Country bathroom

In one sense, bathrooms are the perfect fit for a country decorating theme. Country is all about a slower-paced, relaxing atmosphere, and nowhere else in the home is relaxation more coveted than the bathroom. Every successful bathroom remodel starts with working with a designer or contractor to plan everything, from installations and fixtures down to the final decorative touches. You can’t pick a countertop, sink or vanity without knowing how it’s going to fit into your bathroom décor. Here are some things to keep in mind when constructing your country bathroom.

Country Bathroom Fixtures

Country bathrooms are dominated by classic bathroom fixtures and installations. If you’ve always had a thing for clawfoot tubs, you’re already well on your way to creating a country bathroom. On the other hand, you may like the feel of a country bathroom but still want your luxury shower stall. There’s nothing wrong with this, but you may want to avoid shiny, metallic materials. You can have a luxury shower stall or whirlpool tub that will give you the best of contemporary bathroom design without clashing with your country bathroom décor. In fact, combining contemporary bathroom design with the relaxing feel of the country atmosphere is a common bathroom remodel theme. Showrooms for bathroom remodels frequently have a display deemed contemporary country.

Pedestal sinks are a great throwback that can be nicely incorporated into your country bathroom. Decorative faucets are a nice touch as well, and there’s ton to choose from even within the country decorating style. Bathroom counters can be made from nearly any common countertop material, so long as it’s not too elaborate or busy. Think subtle and slightly muted without being drab.

Country Bathroom Décor

Country bathroom décor isn’t all that different than country décor in general with a few exceptions. First, one of the common country style decorating materials is wood. Wood and water don’t work well together though. Since it’s not wise to put a hardwood floor in your bathroom then, work wood into your bathroom décor in other ways. Wooden pegs and racks are great for hanging your white bathroom towels. Cabinets are usually far enough removed from water sources, they can be wood. And, of course, a wood toilet seat cover is always a go.

The open storage cabinets of the country remain a great idea in the bathroom. Think candles, fragrances and other neatly arranged toiletries. You’ll probably still want to have at least one closed cabinet to store more intimate items, but you should still be able to appreciate the convenience and style of open shelving.
