Double hung windows: Double hung models allow homeowners to open both panes for better ventilation and easier cleaning. Double hung windows are common in most homes.

Casement windows: Casement models are attached to their frame by a hinge. Windows with top-mounted hinges are known as awning models, while side-mounted windows are referred to as hoppers. Unlike other window models, most casement designs require a crank or lever to open or close.

Bow windows: Bow windows are comprised of multiple connected windows that bow outward. Bowed designs allow in natural light, help with ventilation and add an unobstructed view of the outdoors.

Awning windows: Awning windows, like casement designs, have hinges at the top of the frame and swing outward. Awning windows are common in basements and help with ventilation.
