Project Location: Carol Stream, IL Date: 02/01/24Location: HomeWhat kind of door needs to be repaired?: ExteriorComment: Need a repair on the front entrance (double) door of my home. It is a double door that has a fixed door on one side with an astragal or center post attached to that door that the other door meets when closed and locks into. The fixed door has sliding flush bolts located in the top and the bottom, of the astragal, that hold it in place when closed. The slide bolt consists of a round metal bolt at one end that is attached to a plastic finger slide to allow you to move it up or down. I need one of the slde bolts replaced because of the plastic piece has broken and makes it difficult to operate. I have a new replacement astragal bolt slide bolt but need someone who is familiar with this type of door to replace it without damaging the door I don't know how to do it.
