  Comment: I would like to get an estimate to install wood stairs. I will further discuss when pro comes. Undoubtedly, one will need to see the home in-person but I've tried to paint the picture as much as possible below: We're wanting to move the attic stairs from rear of the home to be above main staircase at front of home. The attic is unfinished and the home was built in 1895. We have stairs in the rear of the home: basement to main floor, main floor to second floor, and second floor to attic - all stacked on top of each other. This project would require the removal of all but the basement stairs (i.e. main to second, and second to attic). Additionally, we would need the vacated stairwell on the second floor to be refinished (including flooring, drywall, plus electric & plumbing for washer/dryer). This space is ~3ft x 9ft (~8.5ft ceiling). No refinishing work will need to be done on the main floor. The new attic stairs will be in a U-shape, starting next to the top of the main stairs and running parallel to them up to the landing and then wrapping around and running above the main stairs to the attic, following the roof line. The first section of the stairs from the second floor to the landing will be half open (wall on one side and banister on the side facing the main staircase). The second half of the stairs running from the landing to the attic will be fully enclosed. To create room for the attic stairs, we will need to move a non-load bearing wall over by ~3ft, the width of the attic stairs.
