"In response to this customer review this homeowner did not hire Clapper Construction but actually hired a big box home improvement store for her new roofing system. The big box home improvement store sold the job to this customer and Clapper Construction (as this store's affiliated installer) installed the new roof with the material provided by the big box store. The homeowner was having the new roof installed because the roof was leaking prior to the install. At the time of the install (early spring) the weather was cold, windy, and moist and the roofing nail guns froze and were unable to function. The weather also accounted for the number of days for this install. The second roofing company hired installed the second new roof in the summer months, decreasing the number of days needed to install. Plywood was replaced in areas where rotten plywood was present and additional plywood was available (provided by Clapper Construction) in case more rotten plywood was found. The homeowner has yet to return this extra material to Clapper Construction. Clapper Construction had no control over promises from the big box home improvement store of certified installers, extended warranties, or brand of materials provided. Clapper Construction did discuss the flashing under the siding (this was not in the contracted work) that needed to be done but, at an additional cost, the homeowner did not want to pay more than the contracted price and instructed Clapper Construction to put it back the way it was. Clapper Construction is no longer an installer for this big box home improvement store as we like to work with our customers directly and execute our installations in a timely manner. We work hard to build good relationships with our customers. It was unfortunate that we were put in this situation with this difficult homeowner. Despite this homeowner's comments we have hundreds of happy customers, many of whom become repeat customers, and we are able to provide excellent references as well."
