"Could not have been a worse experience. Hired to replace door hardware (knobs and hinges). Simple job for anyone. I was told by owner that "they'll make everything perfect ". Expected a few hours...it took two guys four hours by which time I just wanted them out. Checked things as they were working and pointed out multiple problems along the way. English communication was clearly not working. They did not know how to adjust doors by bending hinges (the correct way) and instead pounded on the door jams and sunk visible three-inch screws into one to adjust it. The front door was the worst and needed the doorknob hole enlarged by 1/8 inch. The solution was to use a Sawzall on both the knob and deadbolt holes - I wish I could attach photos here!! Ruined the door. It can never have a standard round knob again because of the hack job. Told owner, scheduled appointment. He didn't show and didn’t respond to texts. Small Claims Court is next to replace the front door. Don’t hire!"

Our most expensive large bay window was installed with a broken lock. It would was the installer who actually brought it to our attention. We were told customer service would follow up with us. A bathroom screen had a hole in it. Again installer was aware of problem. Overall installation was sloppy. I received an email from a Window World rep requesting a review. We told the rep about our unresolved issues with installation and told her a review would be forthcoming after we heard from customer service. This person apologized and again told us a customer service rep would call us That was on Feb 11 2022. No word yet from customer service. Not happy and cannot recommend."

They actually spent the time to set up sufficient barriers/dust blocks, but then proceeded to not seal off those areas and blew LEAD FILLED DUST AND INSULATION DEBRIS coating our first floor. Worse yet, their customer service rep has yet to respond to 2 voicemails, 6 texts, and about 7 or 8 emails. Do not work with this company, they do not value their customers satisfaction or health. They exposed my pregnant wife to lead dust, and it actually bad enough I developed Bronchitis and had to be heavily medicated at urgent care to recover. Just absolutely boggled by complete and utter lack of response from customer service after doing so such a poor job."

Pocket doors are more expensive than standard pre-hung doors. While a standard interior door installation costs around $150 to $200, installing a pocket door can run from $1,000 to $3,500, especially on existing walls. The higher price is due to extra work like demolition and modifications. While more costly, installing pocket doors offers benefits like saving space and modern aesthetics that are worth the added expense.
To frame or retrofit a pocket door, you'd need to modify an existing wall to fit the door and its hardware. This process involves opening the wall, ensuring the door has space to slide, and adjusting any wiring or plumbing inside. After creating space, a new frame and track are installed so the door functions properly.
You can use some standard doors as pocket doors, but they must fit the required dimensions. The door has to slide smoothly into the wall cavity, so it must be the right size and thickness. Also, any existing hardware holes need to be adjusted or covered up to work correctly, increasing labor costs.
For a pocket door, you need enough wall space for the door to slide into. A standard 32-inch-wide door requires about 66 inches of wall space in total—including the doorway and the pocket. The wall you install it in should be at least four inches deep to fit the door's thickness.
Installing a pocket door usually takes about six to 12 hours. If your project requires extra work like wall modifications or electrical adjustments, it might take a couple of days. The exact time depends on your home's layout, the type of door you’re installing, and the complexity of the project.
Removing a pocket door involves more than just taking down the door. You'll likely need to open up the wall to access the door mechanism, adjust any wiring or plumbing inside, and then rebuild the wall afterward. Costs can range from $1,000 to $3,200, depending on how much work is needed.
