"Cristobal Palencia did an excellent job of organizing the work and keeping me informed on any issues that might change during the approximately one week total that it took to do the job. The cost was very competitive with other companies I had quote me for the work done and the progress was quite fast and well done. the work crew showed up on a timely basis and did the work well and quickly, the only issue were some very minor communication issues, but nothing of consequence, they did a very good job and covered the roof for protection and to make clean up easier and it looked great when they were done. I am a big DIY person, so I hire very few professionals, but this job was too big and up on the roof for me to do, and Palencia Masonry did a spectacular job in a very timely manner and at a very reasonable cost, I would definitely use them for masonry work in the future. Now, we will have to see how the job weathers over time, but I great confidence that it was done well and will last. The only issue was a minor problem with the existing chimney flashing which accidentally got pulled back during the work, but it won't be hard to fix, and I just mention it for reference, so don't let that stop you from calling Cristobal for your project, he and his crew did a really great job."

"I hired Jovel to build stairs, retaining walls and planters connecting my existing patio to a new patio that I also hired Jovel's company to build. The stairs, retaining wall and planters were completed in September. In October, I had a licensed inspector at my home for another project and he pointed out that the stairs Jovel had built did not meet code. The inspector stated that stairs must be of equal rise and the lower and upper stairs were not in acceptable range with the other two. He also stated that three or more stairs required a handrail and that the stairs were POOR construction. Jovel has refused to correct the issue or refund any money paid. Brick or stone tuck pointings FAQs
Cracks in brick mortar are expected after 20 to 30 years. Mortar doesn’t last nearly as long as brick, which can last hundreds of years with proper upkeep. For safety and the most cost-efficient solution, have a professional mason inspect cracks in brickwork. Most of the time, it’s cheaper to fix it early than wait until the problem gets worse.
Whether you need to clean bricks before repairing them depends on the problem. If they're dirty or growing moss and lichen and you're doing a simple repair job like repointing the mortar, cleaning the bricks is probably a good idea before attempting repair. However, if you remove the bricks to replace them with new ones, there's little point in cleaning the old ones.
You can prevent bricks from damage by properly grading your property and ensuring it slopes away from your house, regularly cleaning your gutters, and ensuring trees aren't growing too close to the walls and putting pressure on them with their roots. Also, regularly check the pipework that is affixed to the brick for leaks. Every decade or two, when the mortar is crumbling, get it repointed or tuckpointed to prevent further damage.
