"Pros: quickly completed the job, did come back and use a marker to fill in areas where stain was missed. (but missed many spots the first time around) Cons: did not show up for the consult on time, pushed our job back to a different day and notified us Friday prior to the Monday they were supposed to start. They did not lock out front door upon leaving, leaving us vulnerable to theft. Certain aspects asked for like filling in the gaps between board were NOT done, with no solution provided. When I didn?t respond to a text quickly enough they just stopped over to ?repair? the floor with a marker without scheduling a time, changing our entire plan for the day. Less than impressed."

Annika and Brian came to my home on 2/16/22, we discussed options, and I was told I would receive an estimate in about a week and a half. After more than a month I still had not received anything, so I called their office on 3/10/22. I spoke to Annika who said she was working on my estimate even as we spoke, and that I would have something by end of day. It is now 4/7/22 and I have not heard anything from them. If you don't have the time for my projects, fine. Just be grown-ups and tell me that. I had a substantial budget, so that wasn't the issue. I was seriously considering moving forward with your bid for ALL new windows in my house, but if this is how you treat customers, then it's a hard pass for me. Some common courtesy and communication are simply the bare minimum that a consumer should expect. Do better, please."

"My wife and I were contemplating putting new carpet throught out our entire house, along with two flights of stairs. Our daughter has viral induced asthma and we wanted to replace old flooring that was in our home when we bought it. Robert listened to what we wanted and our needs and then suggested engineered hardwood floors since they reduce allergens by 87%. He then gave us some links to help us learn more about this and information of the benefits of wood floors with people with asthma. We had him back a couple more times to discuss and then hired UB Harwoods to install pre-finished, engineered flooring from Mirage. There was never a hard-pressure sell, only honest information and answers to our questions. They did an unbelievable job! They matched floor levels perfect that originally had all different types of existing flooring materials, custom cut and stained stair treads to match the new pre-finished floor, and even matched heat vent covers. Aim to refinish your hardwood floors every seven to 10 years, depending on the amount of wear and tear they receive. You can also refinish your floors after removing wall-to-wall carpeting or after significant disrepair from traffic, sun, or water damage. During your hardwood floor refinishing, you might also want to consider refinishing your stairs at an average cost of between $40 and $75 per step. .
At an average cost to refinish hardwood floors of $3 to $8 per square foot, it may cost anywhere between $1,500 and $4,000 to refinish 500 square feet of hardwood floors. The final price you’ll pay for this home improvement project depends on the type of hardwood floor you have, local labor rates, and if you require any additional repairs or other tasks, like buffing and polishing.
Sanding is crucial to refinishing a floor properly, but to see whether your floor can go without sanding, perform a spot test on an inconspicuous, small area. Rub your hardwood with a sanding screen and apply a coat of polyurethane. If there's no residue after 24 hours, you can refinish your hardwood floors without sanding. However, you don't need to sand if you're recoating or polishing floors without underlying damage.
The best way to maintain hardwood floors is to clean them regularly with a push broom and use a mop with a cloth pad. Only use cleaning products designated for hardwood floors. Otherwise, you could damage them by stripping the finish. To remove tough stains, take steel wool and mineral spirits and buff gently with wax. Finally, you’ll want to install window treatments to ensure sunlight doesn’t discolor your hardwood floors.
