"Brent and Cypress Southern Homes patio & pools did an amazing job on our patio addition to our house! The project started on September 16 and completed on November 14! Brent was super responsive and punctual throughout the entire build! Each crew specialized in their trades and the quality of everything is above par. The best thing is their pricing. In my honest opinion I believe the pricing we got from Cypress Southern Homes was the most appropriate. No outrageous mark ups or anything. I would highly 10/10 recommend Brent and Cypress Southern Homes for any of your home improvement needs."

"Danny was great to work with. He got me a quote right away and once hired got started right away. Part way through the job I added to what was being done and he adjusted his bid and completed the job with a great crew. Hi Dad and brother were part of the crew so I liked that it was a family business. They were super professional and cleaned up at the end of each day so we didn't have to look at the mess. By the way we had new siding put on and had 4 over window dormers removed from the roof to give it a nice clean line. The siding we chose was fiber cement."

Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
