Energy bills too high? Have hot and cold rooms? A Green ID home energy audit will give you the opportunity to save big. Does this story sound familiar? You have been trying to save energy at home by: - Doing the dishes and laundry at night - Turning the thermostat up while away - Making some energy efficiency upgrades like replacing the AC unit, installing new windows or adding more insulation in the attic But yet your utility bills have not changed or worse, they've increased! We actually hear stories like this all the time from homeowners just like you. At Green ID, we offer whole-house energy efficiency solutions that have been consistently proven to reduce our client's energy bills by 15-35% while increasing their comfort and air quality within the home. During our comprehensive, home energy audit, we will evaluate your home for signs of energy waste and create a plan to tackle the most significant sources of high energy bills. You may not be one of the customers who’ve saved $100’s or thousands with Green ID, but you soon will be if you sign up for a home audit by responding to this letter of invitation. “I’ve retained numerous contractors over the years and don’t believe I have ever been more satisfied with the experience from the beginning assessment to the final inspection. Thanks again for the great job and treating us as your most important customer.” Luke & Michelle, June 2012 “We just got our rebate checks from SRP and our first bill since the work you did [for us]. Our usage went down 200kWhs from the previous month – unheard of this time of year! Thank you for everything!” Marta, April 2013 We’re interested in what you think about Green ID after we’ve helped your save hundred’s, too. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call or sign up online for your Green ID home audit.
"We're really glad that we found Green ID because every stage in the process was outstanding. Our AC unit was original to the house (20 years old) and we knew it was only a matter of time before it failed. We didn't want that to happen in the middle of the summer. I initially sent requests to a few companies for an Energy Audit. It was over a holiday weekend. Green ID sent an immediate acknowledgment (not just an auto response). Within a week, Corey completed the audit. His audit revealed two problems we suspected: (1) one of the bedrooms was receiving minimal airflow due to leaks so it was really hot in the summer and cold in the winter and (2) there were several hot spots at the edge of our eves on the west facing rooms because insulation had not been installed properly when the house was built 20 years ago. He also told us that with only one cold air return (which was undersized) it was another reason our unit couldn't evenly distribute the air. Because our roofline has multiple peaks and a vaulted ceiling, we knew this would be a tough job, both to access all parts of the attic, as well as, to figure out where to place the new AC unit. We shopped around to compare how the work would be done and for pricing. We received four bids and found that David (the owner of Green ID) had priced the work very well. And even more important than pricing was the trust he & Corey instilled. We did not want to send all the existing insulation to a landfill so he suggested a way to supplement what was there. After discussions with David about what was best in our situation, we signed the contract and scheduled the time. Their AC guys did the following work: - repositioned the main cold air return to center it properly above a door - changed the grill to the more efficient style - added two new cold air returns for better air flow - changed some other ductwork to the right size - sealed all the leaks - added more insulation - installed a 4 ton Trane 17 Seer, dual stage AC unit. The guys showed up on time and did all the work within two days. They also cleaned up everything really well. Both David and Corey followed-up to make sure that we are happy. What a difference in the quality of air! The unit is incredibly quiet - so quiet that the first time I turned it on I thought there was something wrong because we didn't hear the "whoosh" that the old AC used to make. And the temperature through the house is now consistent. If you are considering replacing your old AC or getting more/new insulation, then call Green ID. For $99, they will do a whole house Energy Audit complete with pressure testing and thermal scans to find out how efficient your system is and where there may be problems. Then, if you get the work done you can apply to SRP (or APS) for a rebate."

"They provided a two price quote after a comprehensive, onsite assessment of the work to be completed. One price ($1075 approx.) to reduct 2/3s of the house. The second price quote ($2700 approx.) was to reduct the entire house. A month later after I was ready to initiate the job, they advised that they couldn't do the work (reduct entire house) at the price originally quoted. Not only did they not commit to completing the work at the quoted price ($2700), they indicated a reluctance to complete the job as quoted (reduct entire house) telling me that a complete reducting of the house really wasn't necessary although the technician who provided the original quote strongly advised getting a full and complete reducting of the house since they'd already be reducting 2/3s of it. Now that the ceiling has been demo'ed (soffit removal) I have to find a new contractor to do the work. Epic has no integrity."

Yes, you should remove old insulation if it's damaged, contaminated, or deteriorated. Signs like water damage, rodent droppings, mold, or gaps mean removal is essential to maintain energy efficiency and a safe living environment. If the insulation is intact and functioning well, removal isn't necessary. However, compromised insulation can increase energy costs and pose health risks.
Attic insulation lasts 80 to 100 years; however, its performance starts to decline after 15 years. Insulation loses effectiveness as materials like fiberglass become dirty, wet, or affected by mold and other contaminants. Regular evaluation is critical because reduced insulation performance leads to higher energy loss. A professional inspection confirms when replacement is necessary, ensuring that your home maintains peak energy efficiency and comfort.
Excess attic insulation does not enhance energy efficiency beyond an optimal threshold. When insulation surpasses the necessary level for your region’s climate, additional material does not improve heat retention and may cause moisture buildup. Maintaining the correct balance is essential because over-insulation can lead to unintended issues without lowering energy costs. A professional assessment ensures that the amount of insulation is ideal for performance and efficiency, and helps avoid unnecessary expenses.
R-value is the measure of a material’s ability to resist heat transfer and directly determines insulation performance. A higher R-value means the material retains heat efficiently during winter and minimizes energy loss in warmer months. Selecting insulation with the appropriate R-value for your specific location is essential because environmental conditions and installation areas significantly influence energy efficiency. Over time, external factors like moisture may degrade the R-value, which underscores the importance of periodic evaluation.
Insulation damage occurs in several forms, including mold growth, pest infestations, water intrusion, and electrical harm. Damaged insulation compromises heat retention and significantly increases energy expenses while posing serious health risks. Immediate removal and replacement of compromised insulation are imperative to restore optimal performance and ensure the safety of your home. Regular inspections will identify these issues early, allowing for swift corrective action that maintains efficiency and protects occupants.
