"I needed to have a window balance replaced. When he completed the initial estimate, I needed to have two window balances replaced because he broke a second one. I was charged to the parts and labor to replace both. Costs are not disclosed. For example, I was charged $198.89 for MH.MRE.605.0100 and $115.90 for MH.MTA.000.0004. Eventually I found out that the $115.90 was to locate and pick up the parts. There was also a Service Charge. When I asked what that was for, I was told "a fee for lack of a better term." My original estimate was for $300.13 but I ended up paying $412.78. There are better and more transparent options than Mr. Handyman."

"We hired Unicorp to change front door because of superb review on Angi, but disappointed. 1. It's a small company using subcontractors to do its work; Contrary to its claim, those subcontractors DO NOT work exclusively for Unicorp. 2. After subcontractors got paid, you will not see them again for the job. The service team seems only one person (JR). It is hard to make an appt, since he has to supervise a lot of subcontractors' work, and only do service when he is supervising near you. Specific problems: -Ghost swing after installation (i.e. door swings to close by itself). Had to request adjustment at least twice. -Fainted finish after a few years while still in warranty, but we were advised to paint ourselves. -Very thin layer of finish, and very easy to get scratch to show white underline color; -Have PROBLEM to LOCK the door. After it was "fixed", problem showed again. -Subcontractor used wood with black stains, suspect mold, to install the door; Brand new door had minor defect."

More concerning for a small $1,000 balance of a $5,000 job, they threatened while saying good luck to me....to file a mechanics lien on my $2,300,000 paid off house. IT IS AGAINST STATE LAW TO FILE A MECHANICS LIEN AGAINST A RESIDENCE UNLESS THE VALUE OF THE JOB INCREASES THE RESIDENCES VALUE BY 15% OR MORE. They are threatening and go around every legal corner to get what they want including their bogus sales pitches."

"I am still waiting for the return of my deposit as it has been a week since I put this review on hold after putting in the notice that day 24 June of cancellation by email and next day mail. As I have said before I am a disabled Vet, Senior citizen with health problems. I have copies of the emails that I sent on the days of 06/24/2023 and by next day Mail on the 27th notarized copies of the cancellation. Tried calling but went to voice mail. No work has been done so a rating cannot be done on the work, only the price. This job was way overpriced and never got the chance to compare. The salesman was a good person but I have my family doing it for thousands less."

The process was easy, but can say the estimate we received to move across the country was $5,000 higher than 2 large PODs to start. In the end, they ended up adding almost $8,000...b/c they quoted the incorrect weight to start, as well as charging for a smaller truck that we never requested. The moving company that did the physical part, wasn't JK, and they were hard, polite, and great workers! I reached out and begged JK to help with the major increase (added 65% more to the total...and that was NOT budgeted in whatsoever! After numerous requests for ANY $ help, we were told simply "No." I worked with the physical moving company and they offered to help with some of the expenses...JK, Nope, Nadda, & basically told me TOO D*** BAD! Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.
The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.
To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.
Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.
Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
