Replacing the light fixtures by our front door was a little tricky re: the cedar siding, but he effortlessly adapted the installation to the situation. Perfect! The old wooden post mailbox was rotted and barely standing...he took it all away, dug a deep new hole and installed the steel post, using quick setting concrete, and fitted the new mailbox. He even scalped some sod to leave on top... When John was finished, you would have thought the mailbox had always been there. I plan on calling on Mr. Handyman, and John, in the future."

"In winter, I can feel the gold wind blowing through openings in my windows and patio door. I’ve been dreading replacing the 5 windows and patio glass door. One window was a bathroom window and had to have tempered glass. The exterior of the windows and doors had to be brown per condo association rules. The first three vendors I spoke with (Renewal by Andersen, Universal Windows Direct, and Magnolia Remodelers) gave me quotes that ranged from $18,275 to $8,000. That price range was too great, so I decided to educate myself about windows before I spoke to other vendors. I learned that what matter most are the window specs (U factor, SGHC, AI, VT, and CR) and the quality of the installation. I then got quotes from 4 other vendors (Lowes, American General Windows & Renovation, Taylor Rae Construction, and James T Markey.) Taylor Rae and James T were my top two contenders because they sold the best windows of the ones I had been quoted (Sunrise and OKNA) and some of their installers were Installation Masters certified installers (Taylor Rae) or American Windows and Doors Institute (AWDI) Certified installers (James T). James T was my top choice because they offered the best product, the best price, and the sales person (Ryan) was great to work with. However, I was concerned about two negative reviews on Angie’s List that no one from James T had responded to. When I went to the showroom to look at the patio door, I told Ryan about my concerns and he went back and spoke to the owner who came out and assured me that he was not aware of the negative reviews on Angie’s List and guaranteed a good installation of the windows. I went with my gut and purchased the windows and door from James T. They were installed last Friday and they look and work wonderfully. I’ll have to wait until winter to do the “cold draft” test, but I’m very pleased so far. Ryan and the office manager both called separately to ask how the installation went."
