Husby Hardwoods is a family owned and operated business serving the greater Seattle area. We are licensed, bonded and insured. In addition to dustless hardwood floor refinishing, we install site-finished and pre-finished hardwood floors, and custom stairs and inlays. We use top-of-the-line Bona dustless refinishing equipment as well as Bona finishes. All team leaders have been trained and certified by Bona US. so you can rest assured that your flooring project will be done right.
"I am not sure why our experience was so poor considering their generally high ratings, but I definitely would not recommend this business to anyone. I work in construction and am familiar with working with contractors, particularly ones who maybe are not the most responsive, but this was unusually bad. There were significant delays, poor coordination, the team did not do everything we agreed to, but when I asked for a price adjustment to reflect the work actually done (at that point, I just wanted them to leave), Dana said they did extra work (that we did not agree to) so we should still pay the amount from the original quote. It still irks me to this day because they seemed to be a reputable business, but that was not my experience at all. Again, really not sure what happened, but I do not think I would risk using them again because it was so bad."

"Jim and his crew refinished our hardwood floors and they look amazing- better than new! We had several bids from different people for this project. Jim was our last bid and while a bit more expensive he was so detailed in what they included in the price I think we actually saved some money when compared to what the other bids did not include or were very vague. Jim included everything that would need to be done before, during and after the floors were done. They removed all doors, moldings and toilet and put them all back when finished. (This was going to cost extra in the other bids we received). Jimâ s crew arrived on time each day and cleaned up before they left. They also worked extra to limit the amount of time we had to be out of our house as we have a toddler. Jim came out to inspect the floors when they were done and saw some spots he wanted to redo and they ended up putting an extra coat of finish on with no extra cost. I highly recommend Goss floors and would/will hire them again for any future wood flooring projects!"

Aim to refinish your hardwood floors every seven to 10 years, depending on the amount of wear and tear they receive. You can also refinish your floors after removing wall-to-wall carpeting or after significant disrepair from traffic, sun, or water damage. During your hardwood floor refinishing, you might also want to consider refinishing your stairs at an average cost of between $40 and $75 per step. .
At an average cost to refinish hardwood floors of $3 to $8 per square foot, it may cost anywhere between $1,500 and $4,000 to refinish 500 square feet of hardwood floors. The final price you’ll pay for this home improvement project depends on the type of hardwood floor you have, local labor rates, and if you require any additional repairs or other tasks, like buffing and polishing.
Sanding is crucial to refinishing a floor properly, but to see whether your floor can go without sanding, perform a spot test on an inconspicuous, small area. Rub your hardwood with a sanding screen and apply a coat of polyurethane. If there's no residue after 24 hours, you can refinish your hardwood floors without sanding. However, you don't need to sand if you're recoating or polishing floors without underlying damage.
The best way to maintain hardwood floors is to clean them regularly with a push broom and use a mop with a cloth pad. Only use cleaning products designated for hardwood floors. Otherwise, you could damage them by stripping the finish. To remove tough stains, take steel wool and mineral spirits and buff gently with wax. Finally, you’ll want to install window treatments to ensure sunlight doesn’t discolor your hardwood floors.
