"A few years ago we did a simple remodel of two bathrooms in Menlo Park with FVR. By the time we finished the project we just wanted these folks out of the house. After a few years I felt it was necessary to share our negative experience and how poorly much of the work has held up. Specific issues; 1. Substandard workmanship: a. Heating vent under the house was left unconnected--I was heating our crawlspace and not the bathroom for 6 months. This went undetected until I went under the house for something else! b. Looking in my attic, the electrical work to hookup the bathroom fan is clearly not up to code--junction box is not closed and there are multiple exposed wire splices. c. Gang box for the newly installed light switch is clearly not level and out of square. 2. Numerous examples with low quality finish carpentry: a. Gouge on a newly installed sliding door from the aluminum frame--supposedly fixed then recurred. b. Spackle and paste used to patch the casing around the door frame where it contacts the bathroom tile--looks terrible c. A supposedly 'straight' wall that was rebuilt by FVR, clearly bulges with an obvious curve in the baseboard. d. Sloppy work on the plumbing cover plates for one toilet--half smeared with paint and not attached to the wall properly. 3. Low quality of painting: a. Two slightly different colors of white used in one bathroom with sloppy caulking around the trim. b. Numerous blotches of paint on hardwood floors around the hallway baseboard--the kind that would be easily have been avoided by using masking tape. 4. Sloppy personnel and poor cleanliness: a. Folks were working while we were on vacation, and we came home late in the evening to find construction debris scattered in our front yard including razor blades, paint on our front walk (where stains can still be seen). b. For a year afterwards we found trash (food wrappers & empty bottles) behind the bushes or buried in the shrubs. c. I saw workers 'free handing' a circular saw for trim and baseboard--where one guy would hold the boards and another would use the circular saw. For sure not a safe or effective option--just glad nobody was hurt at our house by these substandard practices. Nobody could be bothered to bring a jobsite saw. I will add that we pointed out most of these issues to the company reps while they were happening-- most responses 'Just an honest mistake' and/or 'We will send somebody over to fix that'. At a certain point you stop trusting anyone from the company and just want these 'less-than-competent' folks out of the house. The customer shouldn't have to check all these details--especially about heating/plumbing/electrical work. Would not ever trust this company again to touch our house."

Were a locally owned and operated company with over 40 years of industry experience. We specialize in a variety of home improvement projects which include bathroom remodels, decks, plumbing, flooring, hardscapes and major home repair jobs. We pride ourselves on the quality of our work as well as our commitment to outstanding results. We look forward to building lasting relationships with our clients and guarantee your satisfaction!

"If you are even remotely thinking about hiring this company for spending your hard earned, life savings for your dream project, my sincere advise from my own dreadful experience is DON'T DO IT. My experience was and continue to be a nightmare. As I made this mistake going with this company for my major house remodel ,which I had planned for and saved money for a long time, but now I am stuck with issues across all the areas they worked on and every day I find myself regretting the decision and cursing this company, my fate, seeing and dealing with the issues every day. My house has become a neighborhood joke and a cautionary tale about remodel mistakes to avoid. I learned the hard way that with this company, the only thing that matters is maximizing their own profit. PERIOD. which means pressuring into changing the scope last minute, hiring very cheap , incapable , inexperienced labor, not paying them as promised on time or paying very little, making them resentful and as payback they do a bad job, or simply walk away from the job. Moreover there is no quality check or monitoring or inspections scheduled , simply shows up to collect check and if questioned about the quality and delays, it's like dealing with the mafia boss. Of course I should have been more courageous and deeply involved to kick them out right in the beginning or enforce timely inspections, question them to catch issues promptly. But that's why we hire and trust these companies right ? Because we have our regular jobs to do. In my case this trust was 100% shattered and I find myself not trusting anybody anymore. Just to name a few issues I am finding after the remodel was as so called "completed" my skylights installation started leaking all over the kitchen, blew up my recessed lighting, due to other roofer review I found that there was no weatherproofing done by the cheap installer he hired who just skipped all the weatherproofing work to maximize his profit. There is no proof of inspection performed. Laundry relocation to garage : crew left a big hole from crawl space into the garage which led rats entering the garage and now I dealing with rat infestation. Attic space barrier from garage into rest of the area broken and never covered , so infestation now spreads all over the house, and now all of us losing sleep every night. Garage completion work and expectations were discussed well in advanced with his associate , but he spend 2 hours to force me into changing the scope, leading to unpleasant, aggressive back and forth so he can save cost on the bloody lumber and labor. Keeps adding to the disappointment . Apparently additional electric sub panel was added for distributing the load, now we intermittently lose power to part of the house requiring hard power reset. Shower basically becomes pool of water due to inaccurate slope . Incorrectly installed my Grohe shower system , now it just throws out extreme hot water Crews do not follow the instruction for installing the fixtures, windows and when corrected , become agitated and aggressive due to rework. Multiple cabinet doors were scratched and dented External smooth stucco work is the biggest joke of all where people can see weirdness and bumps from the street, Despite the fact I had showed him a great , professional stucco job across the street multiple times. Goal was to shove something down my throat as fast as possible and get paid. Internal smooth stucco started showing cracks within 6 months. And the list goes on and on.,, worst part is when contacted about these issues, there is no sense of responsibility and accountability, or offer to help resolve rather I was told to contact the horrible sub contractors he hired and deal with it myself."

"We decided to remodel our entire hone. We bought the home in 1998 and have never done any major work to it. We needed the kitchen, both bathrooms, flooring and painting. We wanted just one company to handle it all. After interviewing a few we selected Cal Green Remodeling. We had the pleasure of working with Shai. He brought a lot of great ideas that really made the process go smoothly for us. He handled all the permits and the dealings with the city. The team's attention to details was impressive. Shai was very attentive and involved. Our home is absolutely a work of art. We would highly recommend this company."

Accurate Home Remodeling aims for complete transparency, treating our clients and their homes with the utmost respect. Our experienced team of professionals are here to relieve any questions or concerns to make your renovation an exciting experience. Your lead installer will be present at all times during construction to ensure the installation of all materials are accurate and comply with all building codes.  We invite all our customers to an exclusive app chat that stream lines the collaboration process, where we can post our thoughts, pictures and files that we might need to visualize the project. Our approach is to work closely with our clients to efficiently build a breathtaking space with their personal touch.

"I recently hired Accurate Home Remodeling to transform my closet into a walk-in library, and the results exceeded my expectations. Miles took my inspiration images and expertly designed a custom built-in bookcase that maximizes every inch of the compact space. His innovative design choice to replace a solid partition with floating shelves on the right side was brilliant - it makes the space feel more open and puts the books front and center when you walk in. The installation process was remarkably efficient. Pedro and Gustavo completed the entire project in just two days, including installation, patching, painting, and cleanup. Gustavo's craftsmanship and attention to detail were exceptional - the built-in bookcase looks like it was always meant to be there. He even went above and beyond by giving the entire closet a fresh coat of paint. Throughout the project, the tea was incredibly responsive, professional, and transparent. I'd definitely work with them again!"

Blues Brothers Construction Inc. is committed to excellence in every aspect of our business. We uphold a standard of integrity bound by fairness, honesty and personal responsibility. Our distinction is the quality of service we bring to our customers. Accurate knowledge of our trade combined with ability is what makes us true professionals. Above all, we are watchful of our customers interests, and make their concerns the basis of our business.

"I contacted Blues Bro back in late 2020 and then we went over some things. In the mean time I contacted other agencies as well trying to see where I get the most value for my money, it was here. I locked in the contract, to the person getting work done please go back and forth and negotiate. I hired them so that I would not have to deal with contractors for my adu.. I was happy on my results and how my project turned out to be. I gave my own rough blueprints to Blues Bros which helped a lot. Project mgn was Sussan and cordinators changed but Renne was very, very helpful. Payments were done in installs of each step the project goes through.. they have an app it tells you when the payment will be done. I bought most of my own stuff, even though they have inventory inhouse. I would recommend to future client, negotiate, read the contract and be upfront with budget and leave a little buffer. Have communication with both contractors and Blues Bros. Be on top of things right away from the first second. Get the number of the contractors and there boss and ask for weekly of daily status of work. If something is off have chat with both Blues and Contractors right away. Everyone has the same end goal, which is to finish the job so stay on top of it."

Kitchen remodelings FAQs

When your kitchen renovation includes major modifications, you’ll likely need to apply for one or more permits. The cost of building permits typically ranges from $450 to $2,400. Don’t forget to factor in the timescales for application and approval. Electrical and plumbing permits are sometimes issued immediately, while structural applications can take 4 to 6 weeks to process. Always consult with relevant local parties, as permit requirements vary by state and city; you may need separate plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and structural work permits. You rarely need a permit to complete the work for basic remodels involving refacing cabinets, re-flooring, or re-tiling.

A kitchen remodel typically takes anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. The timeline depends on your project’s complexity, your experience level, and the size of your kitchen. Larger projects that involve structural changes, wall removals, and floor plan reconfiguration will take significantly longer than smaller remodels like installing new cabinets or countertops. The timeline can also vary depending on the number of hours you can dedicate to the project per day. For example, if you can only dedicate nights and weekends to the work, this’ll extend the timescale.

Cabinets are typically the most expensive component of a kitchen remodel. Even semi-custom cabinetry can cost $20,000 or more, depending on the size of your kitchen. If you want to save money on your kitchen remodel costs, consider just refacing your kitchen cabinets by putting in new doors and drawer fronts, for example, or just repainting them instead of installing new ones.

Cabinets are basically the building blocks of your kitchen; they take up the most space in the kitchen and are typically the first thing people notice when they walk in. Increasing their aesthetic value, therefore, has the potential to add the most value to your kitchen. Other features that’ll also add great value to your kitchen are energy-efficient appliances and durable and stylish countertops.

Remodeling a kitchen is, in most cases, worth the time, money, and effort. For starters, a great new kitchen can improve the livability and functionality of your home. Additionally, research shows that a kitchen remodel can return up to 60% to 80% of the money put into it, depending on the size of the remodel and location of the home or neighborhood.
