"I also talked with and got estimates from a few other professionals and also considered having a very skillful handyman do the job. When Mel came to do the estimate, he immediately identified several important issues both in terms of how the previous (now rotting) deck had been constructed and my design for the new deck. Clearly, I wanted to hire someone with his eye for detail! His work was timely and attentive to detail. He noticed some uprights and a crossbeam that needed to be replaced or moved; these had not been included in his estimate. He did not charge extra for these items. He moved the steps to protect a rose bush, adding two additional steps; he did not charge extra. I would hire Mel for any other job within his competency. (Thank you, Mel!!!) Oh, and yes, a pleasure to have him and his men on the job."
