"This company was horrible. They rushed the job. I had 716 square feet of cement done. They didn't cover my walls outside and splattered cement all over them, including my fence. They put excess cement in a hole across the street near our lake and while doing so spilled cement in my neighbors driveway and sidewalk and left it there. This could easily draw a fine from my HOA. Broke my water sprinkler pipe, left huge oil stains from cement mixer truck at the end of my driveway and in the middle of the cul-de-sac. It's only been one week since the job was completed and it's cracking already. They also spilled cement with rocks in my grass due to them over filling the wheel barrel and rushing to the backyard. $4,736.00 job that wasn't worth a penny. I'm trying to figure out how they had such a high rating on this app. Thank God I haven't paid them yet."

"The first red flag is representing himself as Steve Perez on Angi’s list when in fact his name is Ziv. There’s the hard sell and false promises (finish a kitchen remodel in 5-6 weeks) when it took 4 months. Unprofessionalism is an understatement. He communicates through texting like a teenager and screams at the client when in fact errors are his fault or his sub-contractors. We provided appliance specs very early in the process and the electrician still made errors for which Ziv wanted us to pay for. The cabinets delivered were incomplete which he blamed on us. He demanded a final payment and threatened to put a lean on our house when the work was incomplete per the contract. Then Subs starting calling demanding payment which was resolved after we provided cashed checks to Sonart Construction. Don’t believe what I say. Read the BBB review complaints for a well-deserved F rating."

"The plan on this job was to protect the pool from collecting debris with a plastic tarp. In the demolition process, the crew damaged several coping bricks. The framing, rebar, concrete pour and stamping went otherwise OK. They were late removing the tarp due to needing to work on the brick, and it later rained, covering the tarp with water. Joe offered to cover the coping brick damage, sending a guy at the end of other jobs to chip the broken bricks out over the course of the coming week. He damaged a finish tile. Also, the number of “damaged” bricks seemed to increase as we went along. We were not able to remove the tarp when anticipated due to the additional coping demo, and it stayed on over the rains leading up to the 4th of July weekend. Joe's original plan was to clear any water from the surface of the tarp with a submersible pump, removing the debris along with the tarp. This did not work due to the amount of water that had collected. He cut the tarp to remove it, with the debris falling in the pool. After a few days of brick chipping, I started asking for a new schedule. Joe told me to call the office. I asked this question repeatedly, sharing my frustration with the way the job was going. She eventually told me to talk to Joe when he arrived with the crew on July 9. When he appeared on the 9th, he went back to check on his guy and quickly went back to his truck. I flagged him down to give him a spare finish tile and ask my scheduling question. He drove away while I was talking, indicating that he had to get to another job. I waited for a while, then called the office to complain about being disrespected and still not having a schedule. I was angry on this call, but did not yell or use profanity. Joe returned to my home later that morning. I opened the door when I saw him. He came at me with balled up fists calling me names and threatening to beat me. He felt I had been inappropriate with the “seventy year old woman” who answers the phone at the office. He threatened to beat me again, called me some more names, and walked of the job. I have a recording of most of this interaction from my Ring doorbell camera. This was an $8000.00 job. I have paid everything save $650.00 that was due at the end. I will likely incur expenses that exceed this amount in having the work completed, if I can get a contractor to finish the job. Additionally, my pool service company indicates that they will charge $1500 to clean the construction debris and another $1500 to restart the pool. There will be additional expense in replacing the water to be drained in the cleaning process. So if you don't mind a contractor that bullies his way out of a job with threats of physical violence when things go south, Houston Solid Concrete is for you. Otherwise, steer clear. They only get 1 start because 0 is not an option."

The amount of space that one yard of concrete covers depends on your desired thickness. The thicker the concrete is, the greater the volume it needs to fill to cover the same surface area. With four inches of thickness, one cubic yard of concrete covers 81 square feet. With five inches of thickness, one cubic yard covers 65 square feet. With six inches of thickness, one cubic yard covers 54 square feet.
Ready-mixed concrete in its wet form lasts about 90 minutes to two hours, so it’s important to schedule your concrete delivery accurately. From the time water gets added, a truck has up to 300 rotations of the barrel to deliver the wet concrete. The warmer the temperature, the faster the product sets.
Bags of dry concrete mix have a typical shelf life of a few months if stored in an airtight container with controlled temperature and humidity. The cement reacts to moisture in the air, losing its strength over time.
Most large concrete trucks can hold a maximum of 11 to 15 cubic yards of concrete. However, weight limits on most roads can limit this capacity to around eight to 11 cubic yards per delivery. For context, you’ll need three to four truckloads of concrete to pour a 10-inch foundation for a new home that covers 1,000 square feet.
Assuming the work site has been fully prepped and is reasonably accessible for the concrete delivery truck, pouring one cubic yard of concrete takes about 10 minutes on average. A fully loaded truck with 10 cubic yards of concrete takes around one hour and 40 minutes of continuous pouring to empty its barrel.
