"No findings, no solution, no explanation… collected the fee… the issue is still there. I had Triad Mechanical Company for our HVAC issue that the outdoor unit is not running. I told Paul, the assigned technician, that we had tried resetting the power to the outdoor unit but that only brought the unit back on running for a few days before it stopped running again. I asked Paul’s help diagnose the issue for the root cause. However, when I came to the property just a few minutes later than Paul, he told me that he had done his work already, well, by simply resetting the power to the unit! (although I told him that we already tried that but it didn’t work!)… He didn’t have the patience to explain to me what diagnosis he had done (within that a few minutes) and he didn’t even bother to come off his truck to show me but saying “go ask your tenant”. He collected the fee and left. I will never trust nor use Triad Mechanical Company again!"

"$80 service call and a 500% markup on parts? That’s excessive. I completely understand that businesses need to make a profit, but being charged over $500 for a 20-minute visit is more than what many highly skilled professionals—attorneys included—earn for their time. Before scheduling the service, I asked for a quote on both the part and labor. Unfortunately, I was told they couldn't provide that information in advance (which, in hindsight, should’ve been a red flag). I trusted the positive reviews and moved forward anyway. When the technician arrived, they spent about five minutes confirming what we already knew: that we needed a specific part. We expressed concern about the cost, and a manager offered a modest discount, which we declined. We ended up paying the $80 just to be told exactly what we had already suspected. Afterward, we contacted another company that provided the part at cost ($100) and completed the service for $135. Bottom line: if you're trying to avoid unnecessary expenses--which I think right now most people are, it’s worth calling around. I’d recommend saving yourself the service call fee and going with a company that’s more transparent from the start- one that respects your time and your wallet."

At Casteel Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical, we provide world-class service to our customers, just as we have since 1987. Founded by Jan and Bob Casteel, our company was built on honesty and customer-focused care. To this day, we offer our Amazing Care Guarantee: We’ll take amazing care of you or we’ll refund your service call fee. Our expert team of plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, and system design managers performs top-quality repairs and installations while ensuring you are completely satisfied with your entire customer service. Because we offer so many services under one roof, you’ll save time and money by making one phone call to Casteel. Formerly: Knight Air Conditioning and Heating Company
"The radio commercials for Casteel are what steered my decision to scheduling my main waterline repair with them. However, after the experience that I had with their team I will be utilizing them for all of my future needs. The dispatch and scheduling office were pleasant and professional as well as never having to be on hold for (not exxaggerating) more than a minute. From then on they maintained communication with me via text and email so that I was never left in the dark. Jonathan was right on time, very thorough and knowledgeable, checking to make sure that everything was back in order before ever mentioning payment. This is the kind of service that you need from an already stressful situation and is my primary reason for recommending these guys. Turns out the house has a blue ploy line which was discontinued a while back for constant leaks. Bad luck for me that I missed the recall window but I know for **** sure what team I trust to replace my mainline. It's a long stretch of yard that they will have to trench to get the line put in with several ways that it could go wrong which affects my estimate but after enough experiences with other companies I know that you get what you pay for and your fresh running water is not something to attempt the cheap way. Even with that, they applied the cost of my mainline repair to the replacement which put my total damage at around 4500 clams. If you have to drop that kindof cheddar on your home maintenance youre gonna need the assurances that come with a company that goes above and beyond to earn your continued business and that is what I felt with Casteel. TLDR; they make at least one thing on your "to do" list simple and as pleasant as possible."

Unless you're very skilled with HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work, it's best to hire a professional. Improper installation can damage your HVAC system, increase energy bills, and reduce equipment lifespan. A pro will ensure everything is installed correctly and safely.
It depends on your maintenance preferences and budget. Drum humidifiers cost less upfront but require more frequent maintenance to prevent mold growth. Flow-through humidifiers are a bit more expensive but need less upkeep because they have fewer parts that can harbor mold. Consider how much maintenance you're willing to do when choosing between the two.
Repairing a whole-house humidifier costs an average of $230, with prices ranging up to $500 depending on the type of unit, extent of the repair, and labor fees in your area. Units integrated into your ductwork or servicing larger homes may incur higher repair costs. Regular maintenance can help prevent expensive repairs and extend the life of your humidifier, saving you money in the long run.
If your home's humidity level drops below 30%, a whole-house humidifier can help. Dry air can lead to discomfort and health issues. Energy Star recommends keeping indoor humidity between 30% and 50%. In colder regions, aim for 30% to 40% in winter to prevent window condensation. If your home has too much humidity, you may need a whole-house dehumidifier.
Whole-house humidifiers typically last 10 to 15 years. If your unit is nearing this age or isn't working well, it might be time to replace it. Upgrading can improve efficiency and save on energy costs. Consult a professional to assess your unit.
A whole-house humidifier is installed directly into your HVAC system, usually near the furnace or air handler. It connects to your ductwork and plumbing. Because installation involves integrating with existing systems, it's best to hire a professional to ensure everything works safely and efficiently.
If you're experiencing issues with your humidifier, check out our Humidifier Repair Cost Guide for more details.
