Sweeney's Pool Service, Inc. is a premier swimming pool service company dedicated to residential clients in Suffolk County, providing exceptional service for over 10 years. Owner Kenneth Sweeney began his journey in the swimming pool industry in 2007, gaining valuable knowledge and hands-on experience while working for several major companies. During this time, he listened to customers and identified common concerns, particularly regarding communication barriers and reliability. In the spring of 2012, Kenneth decided to address these issues by founding his own company, Sweeney’s Pool Service, Inc. His mission was straightforward: to listen to customers and deliver dependable service. From day one, the company emphasized core business values, starting with customer interactions in the office. Staff members are trained to answer calls with a positive attitude and to genuinely listen to homeowners' needs. By taking the time to diagnose problems and provide effective solutions, they create a better customer experience. The service technicians at Sweeney’s are fully trained and licensed to handle everything from basic pool cleaning to complex pool heater repairs and custom pool builds. With a committed team, Sweeney's Pool Service, Inc. has experienced continued success and expanded its customer base over the years. Each year, they actively listen to customer feedback to enhance their services and better serve the community. As Kenneth Sweeney puts it, “Professionalism and reliability are the keys to success.”
"⚠️ Read before deciding to go with this company! ⚠️ I regret ignoring the negative reviews when I chose Sweeney’s to install my pool. They damaged my property, have taken no accountability and have chosen a vindictive approach to the matter. I urge you to read my experience, and the other negative reviews posted, and think about whether you can trust them to work at your home. They excavated my yard at the end of November 2024 during heavy rain, then left the ground unbackfilled for 12 days. This left my concrete stairs unsupported, with the footing exposed (see photos) and the stairs became detached from my patio. When I contacted Sweeney’s with photos, they relied on their mason affiliate, Devin of Flawless Masonry, who stated the stairs were improperly constructed. THEY DID NOT ASSESS THE SITUATION IN PERSON, NOT THEN OR EVER! I spoke with Devin prior to excavation and he assured me that the stairs were ok and they would not need additional support, I have the text message proof. I never heard from Ken Sweeney directly; however, communication with Reed Communiello, the project manager, on behalf of Sweeney’s has been extremely disheartening. An agreement was discussed where Devin would resolve the situation at cost, at our expense. I received an email from Sweeney's attorney, which included a non-disparagement clause. I agreed to not speak about the issue with the stairs but I felt it left me without recourse should the remaining work not be completed satisfactorily. I agreed to the terms however, Sweeney’s contacted the Town of Hempstead inquiring whether my patio and staircase were built without permits, which unbeknownst to us they were (built prior to 1996; purchased the home in 2018). Sweeney’s rescinding the agreement. They think a homeowner does not have rights when structures are not permitted but that is not the case. My real estate attorney attempted to reach out to them through their attorney, but to no avail. I attempted to retrieve liability insurance. They submitted the only insurance required by the ToH, worker’s compensation, under a different company, JAS Aquatics. They also changed the Contractor Information Form listing the contractor as JAS Aquatics. When I questioned this, I was told “The entities doing the work are valid with the insurance submitted.” I am unsure if Sweeney’s does hold liability insurance or not. I hired a civil and structural engineer. The engineer's report confirmed that the structures were built properly, despite lacking permits. He noted that Sweeney’s was negligent for not supporting the stairs while leaving the footing exposed for 12 days, in which 6 of those days it rained. Sweeney’s dismissed the report—again, without ever coming to assess the situation in person. I am left with no choice but to demolish and rebuild the stairs myself. Due to their spiteful actions of reporting me to the ToH, I now need to have plans drawn up to obtain permits for my patio, stairs and enclosed entryway before any further work can be done. This not only delays the process, it escalates cost. My property has been left in disarray for over a month. I paid in full for the excavation process, yet my deep end is still not dug out. My gate has been disassembled and left that way, my existing pavers were destroyed during the excavation, and my back fence became uneven due to being left without backfill for 20 days. I had to request for them to come back to do the backfill so the fence didn’t collapse. There is also a pile of boxes on my driveway—some empty and others filled with equipment. If this review helps even one person avoid a similar experience, it will be worth it. The stairs existed for at least 30 years without any issue and only detached once Sweeney’s left the exposed concrete footing unsupported for 12 days in the rain. My situation may be unique, but the lack of accountability from Sweeney’s is not, as you can see from other reviews. You do not want to find yourself on the wrong side of Sweeney’s, because once you do they will treat you with utter disregard. Choose wisely!"

"This will be a long review, so grab a snack & a drink…My wife & I decided that ‘19 was financially & finally the year 2replace our 30yr old wood deck. Boards/spindles were loose, also not up to the current code w/the spindles being 2far apart (grandfathered). I flipped thru local home magazines, & started to “cold call places”, scheduling estimates. I ended w/a total of 7, w/Decks Unique being #6. I decided to get the 7th estimate, to solidify my decision. Flipping through magazines turned out 2be a “waste” in my book, as I didn’t even find them in a magazine. On 1/7/19, I hd the owner, Joe of Victorian Fence company, I used 2 yrs ago, come 2look @ some bottom rails on my fence panels, I felt were sagging. He could see my concerns, & w/o hesitation, set up a date for them 2be switched out. Technically, they weren’t sagging enough 2be covered by warranty, however, as a business owner, he made good, & took care of @ NO COST. At this point, you’re saying 2yourself, “why is he talking about his fence?” With all this care, & the customer 2owner connection, I politely asked him of any deck companies he recommends. He said “Decks Unique.” I asked him if there was any connection, & he stated, he has worked w/them in the past, as well as the great reviews online. Joe told me 2look online 4myself, & read. This is the epitome of that phrase “word of mouth.” I liked right away from what I read online, & w/o hesitation, I called Decks Unique (Kyriel-GM/Admin). From that 1st call, I sensed true care in her tone, professionalism, & w/o a doubt, having some1 come out 2me soon 4an estimate (based on my availability), in addition, a match for my needs. I am one, who stresses being punctual, timely communication, & professionalism, not 2mention a phenomenal job. I was able 2set up a consultation 4the next afternoon. As soon as I finished my convo w/Kyriel, an email was sent 2me confirming my appointment, as well as links on decking material 2better educate me, as well as introducing me 2who would be coming, & his background. Jason (Sales) was punctual, professional, patient, nice, & thorough w/his explaining the difference of decking materials, as well as showing me samples. After Jason showed up 4our estimate/consultation, I knew by this time, this was 1 distinction of them being “unique.” @the conclusion of our initial consultation, Jason stated again, that if I have any questions, 2send an email/call, & he’ll gt back 2me asap. He followed up later that night @10pm, w/a thank you 4allowing him into my home, & again, offered answers 2any questions I may have. Over the next several days, he returned several of my emails, & calls promptly, & worked w/me on my needs/price. Jason, & I set a follow up appt on 1/16, & w/my wife by my side, we finalized color, & specifics of our plan, & signed a contract. On 1/17, Jason sent me a sketch, & 3D renderings of what the project will look like (another “unique” touch). We set dates, only changing if weather didn’t permit), & all worked out. They had a company come 2my home & “demo” the old deck. Throughout this whole process, Kyriel was very communicative in touching base w/me on times of material being delivered, & crew showing up 2begin. It was ALL on point. Monday, 1/28, Lou (owner), John, & Thomas all began building my 2nd story deck shortly after 7am. It was complete on Wednesday, 1/30, 30 minutes b4 we received that “snow squall”/“vortex snow storm.” All 3 guys continuously worked in such xtreme cold conditions, leaving nothing short, bt phenomenal, awesome craftsmanship & perfection. After deck was complete, John, & Thomas did a full clean up of yard, & helped put the outside tables/chairs back on deck, & patio. When setting up the whole deck project, I informed Kyriel, that if work needed 2be completed after Wednesday, 1/30, (we would have to make special arrangements, as Thursday, 1/31), I would be unable 2be home, as I’ll be taking my dad in 4surgery. On Thursday afternoon, I received an email from Kyriel about the welcome kit I‘ll be receiving from Trex, & the necessary warranty information. She included @the bottom, “We hope your father is doing well.” I must say, what a class act this company is…& UNIQUE!!!! Upon completion, since weather was a bit crazy, w/the storm moving in, we bth collectively forgot about the flagpole holder, we hd agreed on them hanging for me. Since I was busy w/work, I called Kyriel on Monday 2/4. We both agreed that Wednesday, 2/6, would work 4both of us. As promised, John was waiting for me @ my house, & took care of it. From the point of me calling 2secure a consultation/estimate, until the flagpole holder was hung, Kyriel, Lou, John, Thomas, & Jason, ALL (this is what also makes them “UNIQUE”) were true professionals, fulfilled all promises, & most importantly spectacular awesome job. I’ve shown pics 2co-workers, & a few hv already expressed interest for future projects."

Your pool signals it needs resurfacing when you observe noticeable plaster flakes, peels, and surface stains on its finish. Identifying rough textures and visible cracks along the pool walls or steps provides clear evidence of severe deterioration. Diligent inspections and a proactive approach ensure that immediate resurfacing preserves the pool’s structural integrity and maintains its striking appearance. Plan on resurfacing every 10 years.
Yes—as long as the base coat is solid, you can add a fresh layer right on top. The surface needs a deep clean, minor crack repairs, and a good acid wash so the new plaster sticks. A seasoned pool professional will handle the preparation and application, providing you with a finish that looks sharp and withstands daily use.
A solid plaster job should hold up for five to 10 years. Maintain optimal water chemistry and adhere to a regular cleaning routine to maximize the lifespan of the surface. Annual inspections from a local pool pro help you catch and repair small issues early and keep the finish looking sharp.
