"Contractor was over 2 hours late starting every day (momma needed her coffee), was not properly equipped (We provided wheelbarrow, post hole digger, shovel, loppers, garden rake, etc.). Contractor's labor was a 70 +/- small man and the owner's wife (who did NOT want to do this type of work and let it be known). The contractor also damaged the owners septic tank by positioning his tractor on top of the septic tank and causing 2/3 of the septic tank lid (along with the covering dirt to collapse into the tank The contractor was shown the septic system before quoting the work and warned to avoid the septic before starting work. The replacement lids sections cost the owner $1,200.00. When the county inspector inspects the system, it will require replacement of the entire system at a cost of over $15.000.00. The contractor also drove his tractor into the neighbors yard causing several deep impressions in their yard and damaging their septic system. Due to the late start each day, lack of equipment and inadequate labor, many shortcuts were taken. The plants were simply thrown in a hole without the soil being compacted around the roots. Only about half of the dirt was spread with many piles of dirt not spread and left piled all over the yard. The contractor left the job site after dark on 10-15-2024 and promised to return the following week to complete the work. Which he did not do. The following week was the same result He has not returned and after many calls, I ask him not to return. We have replaced 4 of the new shrubs (Costing about $60) which have died in spite of frequent watering As per Angi's List, the contractor is licensed and insured and was rated 5 Star on Angi's List. I have repeatedly tried to obtain insurance information from both the contractor and Angi's List without success."

"I cannot say enough good things about Southern Acres! I wish I could share before/after pictures of the excellent work they did at my house. Like many others after the devastation Helene inflicted, my yard was damaged beyond recognition....Five 40' trees down, limbs, bushes uprooted, etc. Travis, Jake and a small crew worked from early morning to late afternoon (non-stop except for a brief lunch break) to scrape out the debris. They cut back, trimmed, edged, and removed a huge trailer full of yard waste. They then put out new pine straw (rolled, the way I like it) and blew porch, walk and driveway. The transformation was nothing short of incredible. All the while, they were pleasant and professional. The price they quoted was fair, and they more than met my expectations. In fact, I was so satisfied with their work, I had them hired to maintain my employer's various properties. You will not be disappointed if you give them a call. I know I wasn't!"

A Tree Care Industry Association accredited office staffed by the area's only Tree Care Safety Professional and Board Certified Master Arborist.
"Bartlett Tree did not have the project manager on site to direct the crew and they and provided an inadequate number of crew to handle the scope of work. When I pay a contractor $4,000 to do a job I expect the project manager to be on site to give direction... it is not my job to do so. If they can't provide that level of service something is wrong. The crew arrived without the project manager and I shut the project down and did not have to work done."

Sprinkler systems aren't ideal for xeriscaped gardens because they can't effectively water around rocks and hardscape elements. Water often runs off or evaporates before reaching the soil. Instead, a drip irrigation system is a better choice, as it delivers water directly to plant roots, ensuring efficient water use and promoting healthy growth.
Your xeriscaped garden requires minimal yet essential maintenance. Regularly inspecting and adjusting your drip irrigation system, along with occasionally adding mulch and gravel, keeps your garden operating efficiently. Routine tasks—such as pruning, aerating, fertilizing, and soil testing—promote deep-root development and sustained plant health. This ensures maintenance remains low while your garden preserves its water-saving design.
While the initial cost of xeriscaping can be similar to or even higher than traditional landscaping, it often saves you money in the long run. Xeriscaping reduces water usage and requires less maintenance, lowering your ongoing costs. In drought-prone areas, these savings can make xeriscaping a more affordable and sustainable option over time.
Xeriscaping has potential disadvantages that include high initial labor and a departure from traditional lush landscapes. It demands extensive planning and careful installation, which increases upfront effort. Additionally, the less conventional appearance may not suit every homeowner’s taste and could impact curb appeal in areas where traditional greenery is valued, though its water-saving benefits remain advantageous.
Yes, xeriscaping can increase your home's value, especially in drought-prone areas. A water-efficient, low-maintenance landscape is attractive to buyers looking to save on water bills and reduce upkeep. While the exact increase in value varies, xeriscaping often enhances curb appeal and marketability to potential homebuyers when you’re selling your home.
