Since 1993 Paul and Mimi Reber owned and operated Line-X Protective Coatings of Oklahoma. In 1998 we were Master Distributors for the Line-X Franchise Development Corp. We sold and supported more than 60 franchisees in the midwest until 2004 when the distributorship was sold back to LFDC. We still operated our 3 Line-X franchises until changes in the Line-X corporate structure and other opprotunities allowed us to once again offer the premium product in the spray on bedliner industry. Claudio Burtin, the original formulator of Line-X owned LFDC with his mother, Anna Marie and brother J.B. untill 2005 when they sold it to Graham Partners investment banking group. After a 5 year non compete Claudio is back in the market with a product that to put it mildly is years ahead of any other formulation. Sprayability and UV restistance are vastly improved over any of the Line-X products, what that means to the customer is a much more consistent product and much better UV protection. When we first started Line-X we had an advantage over the competition of having a product that looked better and performed better than anything else on the market, we feel we have that advantage once again with Bullet Liner. If your mirror needs recoating, mirror resilvering costs between $110 and $350. Otherwise, you can replace just the glass if your mirror has a frame. Mirrors are expensive because manufacturing them requires specialized machinery, such as a furnace that reaches ultra-high temperatures to produce molten glass, then a way to cool and form the glass. You cut mirrors with a diamond saw and coat them with metal to create a reflective surface. A silver-backed mirror also requires a chemical process, though most mirrors have an aluminum backing now. A framed mirror can also add to the price.
To look for a quality mirror, consider its purity, flatness, thickness, and reflective coating on the glass. The glass purity can ensure a distortion-free reflection, and thicker glass can decrease the chances of distortion as well. The reflective coating makes a difference, and high-quality mirrors will have several thicker coats of reflective material, like tin-mercury, aluminum, or silver.
