"I hired Hawkins Enterprises for a complete renovation of a one-bedroom apartment in a duplex I own. The prior tenant had developed mental and physical health issues and trashed the place into a complete shambles. Hawkins quoted me a fair price for the renovation which included tearing out and replacing the kitchen and bath, re-plastering, installing new carpet and vinyl flooring, installing all new electric and plumbing, fixing squeaky flooring and installing some new doors. His tradesmen did good work and were timely. Mr. Hawkins had good suggestions that improved the overall renovation. I met with and called him numerous times during the project and always found him to be available and receptive to hearing any concerns or changes I had in mind. The apartment looks terrific and was easily re-rented. It was a pleasure dealing with Hawkins Enterprises and I would definitely hire him again in the future."

"While my project was small in nature (a single family home), Mr. Reich treated me with the same consideration and care given a large commercial venture. Our visions did not always match, but we were able to develop a much better product by melding our different points of view. Great job!"

HomeAdvisor makes it easy to connect with pros near you. You can read reviews, get quotes and book appointments all in one place.
Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
