"This company made a lot of damage to my driveway when they were throwing old roof tiles down, many chips and pivots now. Also, did not cover my new pavers and caused many brown spots which they later tried to resolve with power washing but left stains. They moved the metal part off my water heater on the roof and water heater stopped working when water got inside. The worst is that they promised to take care of the damages but the owner never even came to check on the final product, so i don't know if the roof is even completed correctly. They never came back to put things back in the garage, although promised for several weeks to come. Left 4 different colors on facia, metal and roof trimming even though I offered matching paint for them to complete the job....super disappointed, considering now to take them to small claims court as they refuse to take responsibility for damaged pavers and driveway.....My first impression of them as agreeable was totally wrong."

"This was my second project with HEXAGON CONSTRUCTION and by far the largest and most complex. (Replacing an old, clay tile roof on a three story house is no job for a rookie.) HEXAGON’s owner, Eli Vatkin, is what everyone should be looking for in a contractor. He’s knowledgeable, reasonably priced, trustworthy, responds promptly to any concerns that you have during the project, keeps you apprised of its progress, finishes on time, and generally aims to please. His contracts were straightforward and “by the book.” On top of that, he’s a genuinely nice guy. Rarely will you find all these qualities in a contractor—and I’ve been around long enough to know. "

"My roof was long overdue for a replacement, so I got quotes from three different folks. Modern Roofing came in lower than others and the sales process was detailed and they had good reviews! So I chose them. But it was a pretty horrible experience having them replace the roof. Communication issues started pretty much immediately - I had to initiate all conversation to figure out what was happening, when folks were showing up, and where in the project we were. Andrew S never once proactively communicated, and I had to let him know about the problems, instead of the other way around. I would spent awhile picking a shingle color I liked, only to be told a week later it was not even available in California. A good example of how disorganized and uncommunicative the entire company was. Day 1 of work - they broke the neighbor's window from a leaf blower sliding off the roof. Debris from my old shingles were absolutely everywhere, including on top of three neighbors' roofs up and down the street. Multiple asks to clean it up went unanswered (though they did clean a little bit eventually). There's still debris there today. Price ended up being 150% of the original quote... making them the most expensive of the companies I researched because apparently 1400 sqft of OSB + install costs ~12k. That is with a 15% discount because that much wood was covered in the original contract. Of course they could not tell that it was going to be necessary up front... They took advantage of the project being partway done, shingles missing, roof exposed to the elements, and pressured us to move it forward. It's an exorbitant upcharge but I had no real choice but to pay it and move forward. Completely scummy. Gutters took an extra week... and of course were the wrong color. Took another week to get them to reinstall the right color, and creepily, I just noticed them a different color one day. No communication whatsoever about when they were swapping them or that someone was going to be in my backyard doing work. This was the norm for the whole project. One day it rained, they knew about it because they did not come to work on the roof that day, but left the exposed roof untarped so it rained in my kitchen where there is no attic (and I am sure it rained in the attic too). They sent someone over to tarp up when I called Andrew S, but again, absolutely zero thought going into the project from the project manager. The vents that they installed? Wrong side of the house from what we discussed upfront. When we build out the attic, we'll now need to move them to the other side. Payment schedule? Naw, just a huge lump sum at the end. I have no faith in the quality of the work given the horrible experience and rushed, cut-all-the-corners feel throughout. Almost nothing went right. Stay away from this company, project manager, and anything they try to sell you."

"Miguel and his crew were not only professional but efficient! He inspected my roof that had a leak, and found that the previous fake-roofer did a horrible job in sealing a s fixing the problem. Miguel and his crew found other areas that need repair and was proactive in telling me instead of overlooking it. The work was done in a timely manner and they left the area clean. It is nice working with a professional licensed roofer who knew what he was doing. I will definitely hire in the future."
