"Marlene and her crew were very professional, neat, experienced and efficient, in all components of the project. The exterior cedar shakes needed an extensive amount of scraping and preparation before painting and this job was completed meticulously before the house was primed and painted. The deck was power washed and sealed in preparation for the winter and the stone wall was power washed as well. Each day, when working on the interior painting and wall paper removal, the work area was closed off so that dust would not spread throughout the house and was left neat and clean at the end of the day. The ceilings, walls and woodwork were painted and an old window was replaced as well. The entire house looked its best in preparation for putting it on the market. In addition, the price was extremely fair for the amount of work that was done. I would recommend Go Green for anyone who is looking to complete a home improvement project or wants to get their home ready for the all important Open House."

He was accurate in his initial assessment of the cost of our project and time frame. We did have a few issues that popped up, as they usually do, that were not related to the refinishing of the floors. The largest was we needed to have molding replaced all around the woodwork that was not part of the initial project. Rich was able to handle that additional work as well. The job was done with care and precision. In addition, his workers left my home clean and took special care to prevent dust from going throughout the house. Good work takes time and Rich was able to deal with the unexpected issues ( the woodwork ) in a timely fashion. My floors look amazing! You can also refinish your floors after removing wall-to-wall carpeting or after significant disrepair from traffic, sun, or water damage. During your hardwood floor refinishing, you might also want to consider refinishing your stairs at an average cost of between $40 and $75 per step. .
At an average cost to refinish hardwood floors of $3 to $8 per square foot, it may cost anywhere between $1,500 and $4,000 to refinish 500 square feet of hardwood floors. The final price you’ll pay for this home improvement project depends on the type of hardwood floor you have, local labor rates, and if you require any additional repairs or other tasks, like buffing and polishing.
Sanding is crucial to refinishing a floor properly, but to see whether your floor can go without sanding, perform a spot test on an inconspicuous, small area. Rub your hardwood with a sanding screen and apply a coat of polyurethane. If there's no residue after 24 hours, you can refinish your hardwood floors without sanding. However, you don't need to sand if you're recoating or polishing floors without underlying damage.
The best way to maintain hardwood floors is to clean them regularly with a push broom and use a mop with a cloth pad. Only use cleaning products designated for hardwood floors. Otherwise, you could damage them by stripping the finish. To remove tough stains, take steel wool and mineral spirits and buff gently with wax. Finally, you’ll want to install window treatments to ensure sunlight doesn’t discolor your hardwood floors.
