"The first red flag is representing himself as Steve Perez on Angi’s list when in fact his name is Ziv. There’s the hard sell and false promises (finish a kitchen remodel in 5-6 weeks) when it took 4 months. Unprofessionalism is an understatement. He communicates through texting like a teenager and screams at the client when in fact errors are his fault or his sub-contractors. We provided appliance specs very early in the process and the electrician still made errors for which Ziv wanted us to pay for. The cabinets delivered were incomplete which he blamed on us. He demanded a final payment and threatened to put a lean on our house when the work was incomplete per the contract. Then Subs starting calling demanding payment which was resolved after we provided cashed checks to Sonart Construction. Don’t believe what I say. Read the BBB review complaints for a well-deserved F rating."

"The install, from what I could tell, was fine. They sent out an inspector 6 months later to check the work. He didn't leave any paperwork. I joined the maintenance membership club fo $18/month, which includes servicing twice a year. The first maintenance visit went fine. Everything was working the way it should. A week ago or so, they finished the next 6 month maintenance. The so-called tech did nothing but try to scare me about my electrical hook up not being right and how it was going to burn out my 1 year old Trane if I didn't buy $800 more of parts and of course, add labor on that. This made me really mad, and very suspicious because this company did the same thing to me a few years ago with my old AC. The first check up of the year everything was perfect and the machine had a lot of life left. Six months later, another so-called tech did the check up and told me the heat pump was worn out and wouldn't last the summer. I'm convinced that all they do is up-sell through scare tactics, talking in circles by saying nothing, and hoping you won't get a second opinion. I'm going to cancel my membership and look for an honest company. By the way they are still advertising Angiest list top certification, probably kept it from JDK, which was an honest company!"

After pretty much a total remodel of both bathrooms and the kitchen, we experienced a homeowners nightmare...a plumber was doing periodic maintenance on our cast iron infrastructure when a pipe broke. After analyzing solutions with them, which included knocking out walls in both bathrooms, the owner handed us off to APEX. Joe and Mike came over to the house and examined what we had & took pictures. After running cameras through everything, they developed a hybrid solution that involved undermining accessible pipes and replacing with minimal intrusion as well as refurbishing and epoxy coating the remaining small segments of cast iron that would remain. Joe sat down at our dining room table and mapped it all out; showing us video of each problem point as well as what was salvageable & gave us a price. We signed off on it. With much apprehension on our part knowing our home was about to be dissected, Elliot and John arrived to start work. They were prompt, respectful, & empathetic to our dilemna. They were also insistent about putting protective paper down everywhere they worked to protect the flooring. At the end of the day, they swept, vacuumed, and mopped any debris that was remaining. This was the standard throughout the entire engagement. Their workmanship and attention to detail was spot on. All of Joe’s guys were phenomenal. Although solar panels are usually at roof level and manufactured to withstand the impact of small airborne debris, they still get damaged and or need maintenance work from time to time. Broken glass from rocks, large hail, or a fall (loose bolts on the mount) are the most common reasons for a repair. Equipment with extensive damage costs less and is more efficient to replace than it is to fix, especially if the equipment is near the end of its lifetime. In this scenario, or if you need roofing work done, you will need to hire a solar panel removal service.
The units themselves are tough and often last beyond their expected lifespan of 25 years. Newer models can last up to 50 years. You'll only need to replace solar panels if they break beyond repair, don’t perform well, or lose efficiency as they approach their end-of-life.
Unless you are leasing your system, you are responsible for maintenance and repairs. However, if certain parts are under warranty, you may have a significant amount of coverage on them. If a panel fails due to an installation error or without explanation, your warranty may cover it. If the unit cracked after an impact, you may be responsible for repairs.
Call your installer and read your warranty before you do any work on your equipment. They will have useful insight into your coverage, service limitations, and options. Many manufacturers offer a 10 to 20-year warranty, while inverters themselves usually have a 10-year warranty. Panels should have a workmanship warranty of at least five years, and your general system should have a warranty of 25 years.
