"My wife found out from tests that she had been exposed to mold.  I called Biotek based on reviews I had seen and got in touch with Ancel.  He was terrific, he was able to fit me in early the next day to take a look.  He found the mold underneath the house and explained what type it was.  He was also very honest in what was needed and didn't try to sell unneeded services.  My wife was nervous about going back in the house and instead of suggesting things that were not needed Ancel told us that would be overkill and an unneeded expense.  It was fantastic to have someone like that to talk to instead of someone using fear to sell more.  We were able to call him several times with questions and he was always willing to talk and answer our questions.  The team that fixed the house was fantastic and very professional.  The carpet cleaning is more expensive than other cleaning services but well worth.  The carpet looks and smells like new.  My wife was very happy,  I would highly recommend that service for anyone that wants their carpet to get a real deep cleaning.  We are now back in our house and my wife is feeling better everyday.  Thanks again Biotek for everything you did and how you do it.  I hope I never have to call you again for mold :), but when it is time for another carpet cleaning I will definitely call Biotek!

"cleaned two very dirty rugs and made them look great. Staff was world class. Arrived on time, worked hard, paid attention to detail, great customer service. Took great care to not damage anything. Even put furniture up on blocks to keep off damp rug when finished. Bottom line- best service provider I've encountered in a long time. Would hire again. "We chose CrawlSpace Medic based on professionalism, reliability, reasonable cost estimate, and previous reviews on Angie’s List. Each day the crew showed up on time, worked hard all day, and cleaned up at end of each day; were respectful of property, and very professional, and pleasant to work with. They kept us informed of progress, and what was being done each day. During removal of old piping, they found additional damage behind the pipes that was not visible/identified during initial inspection- were very reasonable with determining the additional cost. They replaced damaged sills, old rotted floor joists, installed permanent support girders with masonry piers, installed a 10ml plastic vapor barrier, and installed multiple foundation vents. We are very satisfied with the results. Our floors are no longer bouncy, and floors feel very sturdy- was a dramatic difference after work completed. The 10 ml plastic Vapor barrier also has prevented that old damp smell inside the house after heavy rains. Was a good experience, and reasonable cost-(initial estimate $10,400, additional work required and we added foundation vent installation was $3800); would hire again."

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

"As a licensed contractor and civil engineer I have three problems when I hire contractors to perform work at my home:

1.  I usually do the work myself, because I have high standards and no tolerance for shoddy work

2.  I travel frequently and am difficult to stay in contact with

3.  I try to document exactly what I'm looking for up front, usually with drawings and a written specification.  I often scare contractors away, since they perceive I will be impossible to please.

L & L Total Home Improvements was referred to me by my neighbor's son, an electrician, who had a good experience.  I arranged a meeting with Larry Westerfield at my home, walked him through the work that needed to be done, and emailed him copies of the drawing, specification (it was extensive), and photographs of the damaged siding that needed to be replaced.  Larry replied within the agreed upon time with a written estimate, we negotiated terms of payment, and I authorized him to proceed.

Two days later I received the dreaded telephone call.  As Larry was trying to source the raw materials required and hire a carpenter to do the work, he was advised to back out of the deal because it would end badly as I would be "impossible to please".  I asked him to reconsider and meet me at my home to discuss his specific concerns and see if we could negotiate which items in my specification seemed unreasonable.  I met Larry and Mike Hutto (his carpenter) at my home.  Further examination revealed more water damage where the original deck joined the house and Mike suggested a herringbone pattern for the deck boards, so we reviewed all of the details, renegotiated the price and finalized the deal.

As I write this review, looking outside at my new deck, I'm still amazed at how well this project came together.  Larry sourced the EXACT materials I requested, in some instances exceeding my requirements (i.e. heavy gauge flashing!)  Mike regularly asked questions and made suggestions that yielded a BETTER deck than what i had specified.  I'm sure this job has been a nuisance for both Larry and Mike because the house was built in the 70's, out of square and out of plumb, and clad with siding and trim difficult to match.

Did everything go perfectly?  Of course not - we're all human.  I understand that Larry employs independent contractors who are juggling multiple priorities.  All I cared about was the budget and schedule, which was honored.  I mentioned to Larry that a phone call or email to let me know days when no one would be working would be helpful for other members of my household.

As I stated above, I usually do my own work because I'm a perfectionist and I enjoy the satisfaction.  It's like therapy for me.  I confessed to Larry and Mike that for the first time EVER the quality of their work exceeded what I could have done myself.

The next time I need to tackle a project I just can't handle myself (or know I'll just never finish!) I know who to call.
