"A couple of pieces of siding fell of the top of my house during a windstorm and since most siding companies only do whole exterior replacements, I called Mr. Handyman to get someone out to put the wind-blown siding back up. They said that they charge $168 for the first hour, and that if I already had the siding on hand, it shouldn't take more than an hour to put up. My technician arrived promptly at 9:00 AM, and within thirty minutes I knew that he was set to go well beyond the first hour. (I don't think this was the technician's fault by the way, I think its an administrative issue). Ultimately, putting up roughly 3 pieces of siding took two hours and thirty minutes! The work was good on visual inspection, but I was in no way prepared for the cost of the service (estimated at over $300). As a note, I previously had a section of siding replaced by a general contractor (who sourced and provided the siding) for the same amount and it took no more than 30 minutes. Luckily, my technician was sympathetic and charged me for only the first hour, but I think its really unfair to both the consumer and the technician that the front office is quoting times that are either a) completely unrealistic or b) that they have no intentions of being accountable to. A company that treats its clients and employees this poorly should not be patronized. Go to an independent handyman instead!"

"Our project was to replace a deck with a new larger one and build a roof over it. I was nervous about hiring a contractor but Hugo was recommended by a friend. « Go with Hugo, he did a superb job of carpentry in my house ! ». I am so grateful to her! I did hire Hugo. As for his work, the words “top-notch”, “first-rate” come to mind. He and his crew are outstanding professionals. The whole construction was done with such care and proficiency. My husband and I are delighted with the result. Hugo’s work was not inexpensive but I did not want to end up with a car port ! Considering that we got exactly what we wanted, with the quality of both material and workmanship, we felt it was a fair deal. Also, I appreciated Hugo’s passion for his own work and the advice of an experienced builder. As a bonus, he was completely trustworthy, showing up when he said he would, meeting all date-lines, explaining small delays while waiting for Inspections from our County, etc… and taking care of “everything”, like permits or attending to last minute requests. Cabinets installations FAQs
Installing a single kitchen cabinet takes about 1.25 hours for professional installation, with an average kitchen usually requiring about 25 to 35 hours of labor to install a full set of cabinets. Custom work can easily take two or three times as long, including the time to design and build the cabinets.
Local cabinet installers who specialize in home remodel finishing work typically install cabinets. You can hire a general handyperson to install most cabinets, but it’s typically recommended to hire a cabinet specialist when installing custom cabinets. If you order your cabinets through a big-box retailer, they often supply the labor as part of the project cost.
The cost of kitting out the average kitchen runs anywhere from $1,340 to $38,400. “Kitting” means to package everything together and is another way to refer to full kitchen remodel costs. In terms of a kitchen, this means remodeling all the cabinets, floors, countertops, appliances, and fixtures at the same time.
Always hang the upper cabinets before installing the lower cabinets. If the lower kitchen cabinets are installed first, it can be challenging to work around them. Plus, if tools or materials are dropped while hanging the upper cabinets, the cabinets already installed beneath them may get damaged.
Base cabinets for kitchen islands and breakfast bars are attached to the floor (down to the underlayment and subfloor). This keeps them from shifting as you lean on them. The cabinet installer uses basic wood screws to secure these cabinets to the floor. However, cabinets that run along a wall don’t need to be fastened. Instead, the contractor secures them to studs in the wall.
