You can just tell him what you want, and show him a picture if you cannot describe what you want exactly, He can deliver that. I took many pictures of his work. Also, he always thinks in our shoes to help you save money. He gave us lots of good suggestions and took advantage of some wasted materials. We worked with him for about three months, and witnessed that he built the restaurant up. If there is one thing I would complain, I would say that he probably have higher standards than people who hired him. So, if you want to assist him in his work, make sure that you can do as good as he does. Or ask him how you can do that better, he is willing to show you the way."
