"I hired Eastside construction To Tape and texture 2 Hallways and a master bedroom, closet and bath. The taper Tom was personable but was the Sloppiest Taper I have ever been around. I have been in the trades since 1972. i requested that Tom scrape out the corners before shooting the texture at least three times, this was done half heartedly. I mentioned to Tom he was the sloppiest taper I had ever seen and asked who was going to clean up his mess. He replied Dean usually sends a crew around, but that was between me and Dean. There was no cleanup crew supplied by Dean. there are several areas that were not sanded properly and texture was shot anyway. I only saw these areas while I was painting. I would never hire this company again. The mess Tom Made and tracked through our house was inexcusable. My wife and I covered our floors, taped off the outlets, installed zipper doors to help keep the dust down. Tom belongs on a Commercial jobsite not an occupied home. I won't make this mistake again. Eduardo and his team came in and assessed the situation and put together a proposal for totally renovating the space in a very thoughtful beautiful manner for a very reasonable cost. We spoke with 4 contractors and 4 Seasons had the most comprehensive high value bid. Including - the removal and abatement of drywall and popcorn ceiling. - a rebuild of everything from the studs up. - an incredible job leveling a very uneven floor and installing of gorgeous luxury vinyl plank flooring. - changing up all the light fixtures and switches making the lighting natural and intuitive. - guidance on all materials - bring several samples, painting segments of the wall different options so we could see the paint during all lighting times of the day. - took care of all the details that we didnâ t even think about - for example unified baseboards and windows and doors. - a remodel of the bathroom - new toilet, new light fixture and mirror, flooring and painting. Professionally installed drywall lasts between 40 and 60 years. Drywall longevity depends on installation quality, maintenance practices, and environmental conditions. High-quality work combined with proper care ensures that drywall performs reliably for decades. Factors such as moisture, fire exposure, and physical damage can affect its lifespan, so regular inspections and timely repairs are essential for extending durability.
You don't need a permit to replace drywall if you're just swapping out old panels without making any structural changes. If you're keeping the wall positions the same and not moving any electrical or plumbing, you can go ahead without a permit. However, if your project involves adding or removing walls or altering the home's infrastructure, you'll likely need to get a permit, which can add $50 to $150 to your costs. It's always a good idea to check with your local building department to make sure you're following the rules.
