"Highly recommend. They were very quick to come out and provide an estimate. They offered quotes for both parts replacement or full replacement of our UV light system. The other 2 companies we asked would not give us quotes to replace the broken part. Maine's Best Water Treatment was also the most inexpensive of the quotes we received. They were very responsive to texts and provided accurate times of arrival. They were very professional. After the install, there was a mix-up where my husband told them we didn't need a water sample test but because of a pending house sale, we were required to have one. They were very understanding when I asked if they could come back out to sample our water. I would highly recommend working with them. They went above and beyond."

"Yes, DJ went above and beyond for us in our home that we just purchased. It needed a lot of plumbing work and he was fast to respond with estimates and come out to give us different options and scenarios on how to approach each project. He came out three different times for us and worked around our schedules. He installed a new kitchen sink, fixed the piping and plumbing under the sink, and installed a new shower valve. He was fast, efficient and fair. He offered the ability to pay with a card as well. We will be using his services in the near future."

"torn between 2 &4 stars but went with 2 only because I feel the cost exceeded in my opinion a reasonable cost to replace with a basic 40-gallon electric hot water heater based on the cost I paid two months ago to have a new eclectic 70-gallon high efficiency heat pump water heater and expansion tank installed. We had no time to shop around.... 4 stars for the prompt repair and 2 stars on the pricing."

Merrimack Valley Plumbing, LLC is a locally-owned and operated company committed to providing fast, affordable, and high-quality Plumbing. We offer HVAC repair, installation, and replacement services. We specialize in heating controls and simplifying complicated plumbing and HVAC systems to make them user-friendly. We strive to find solutions that fit everyone’s comfort needs, from construction projects to air conditioner replacement.
"I hired Merrimack Valley Plumbing to install a boiler in my home, and my experience was overwhelmingly disappointing. While the boiler functions, the installation process and quality of work raised numerous red flags. I want to share my experience to help others make an informed decision when considering this company. Installation Issues Code Violations: The exhaust is less than 3 feet from the gas meter, and the holes drilled in the joists for intake and exhaust are less than 2 inches from the bottom, both of which do not meet code requirements. Improper Venting: Both the exhaust and intake vents are installed too close to the ground (not meeting the 12-inch clearance required for expected snowfall) and are too close to each other (less than the 12-inch separation required). Unsealed Penetration: The hole drilled in the siding was left unsealed, creating a potential entry point for rodents. Condensate Drain Issues: The installed condensate pump is leaking and wasn’t tested. Additionally, rather than a permanent drain installation, they daisy-chained it into a pump for a portable air conditioner. Wiring Errors: The zones for the primary bedroom and second floor were wired backward, causing overheating in both areas. Missing Outdoor Sensor: The outdoor temperature sensor, critical for proper operation, was not installed. No CO Alarm: A carbon monoxide alarm was not installed, which is essential for safety. Unprofessional Workmanship: Trash, including a metal duct pipe, was left in the crawl space near live electrical wires. Process Concerns Permit Delays: The company failed to file permits before starting work. I only discovered this after contacting the town permitting office myself. Mismanagement and Delays: The project stretched far beyond the promised timeline, with repeated excuses about missing parts and limited crew availability, despite prior assurances that the job would be completed in two days. Broken Promises: They claimed a project manager would take measurements in advance to ensure a smooth installation, but no one came. Additionally, they rescheduled initially, promising a larger crew, only to send a single plumber on the first day. Misinformation and Deception Throughout the project, I encountered multiple instances where Merrimack Valley Plumbing provided misleading or false information: - They lied about the dates permits were filed. - They claimed delivery issues caused delays, though they should have anticipated these based on the advance photos provided. - They repeatedly shifted blame rather than taking accountability for the delays and issues. Overall Experience While the boiler itself works, the installation was riddled with code violations, safety oversights, and poor workmanship. Additionally, the company’s lack of transparency and repeated dishonesty made an already frustrating situation worse. I would not recommend Merrimack Valley Plumbing to others. Their lack of professionalism, disregard for safety codes, and failure to take responsibility for their mistakes created an unnecessarily stressful and costly experience."

If your water softener is over 10 years old or if repair costs approach the price of a new unit, it might be time to replace it. Most water softeners last between 10 and 15 years. Replacing an aging unit can improve your water quality and help you avoid frequent repair costs. For a newer system with minor issues, repairing may be the best option. Consider the age and condition of your system to decide what's most cost-effective.
Water treatment systems remain dependable for 10 to 20 years with proper maintenance and care. A well-maintained system secures full performance by following a scheduled upkeep plan and professional inspections. Consistent maintenance guarantees continuous water purification, ensuring that the system operates at its peak efficiency and delivers high‑quality water throughout its lifespan.
Faulty water softeners exhibit clear symptoms that signal the need for immediate attention. Noticeable mineral build-up around faucets, discolored water, dry or itchy skin following a shower, and altered laundry texture indicate that the system is underperforming. Recognizing these issues early and addressing them promptly prevents further damage and maintains optimal water quality. Early intervention ensures that your water system continues to operate reliably and efficiently.
