"Swanick Builders were not consistent with time lines. They would make choices that we as the homeowners should have been consulted on or made. Builders made many mistakes of placement or painting wrong colors from chosen /discussed choices made by us. When talked to about this they would state its a focal point. Level of work has been found to be subpar at best, needing other professionals to come correct. Sub contractors utilized by builders were subpar putting hole in roof . all in all they should not have taken such a large job and we would not be hiring ever again. "

"We recently had our basemen finished by Lux Renovations using the Owens Corning System. From the start, quotation, planning and completion everything was excellent. Communication when needed efficient and in particular the work crew lead by Cruz - always pleasant, on time knowledgeable and very efficient. Various areas of difficulty (pipe systems, etc.) addressed perfectly. Whoever developed this finishing system had a product development protocol par excellence! All of the way down to picture hanging system to easily removable panels if needed. The work was completed in a timely fashion, all necessary inspections were completed without any negative comment. We are now using this basement regularly and it has become quite the party area. I attach early construction and finished pictures and would be happy to answer any questions."

"Do the Right Thing? Warren didn?t handle this properly, but I?ll let you judge. I hired him for a fixed-price bathroom remodel. Afterward, the pipes in the wall froze. I agreed to place the pipes in the outside wall with heavy insulation instead of along the baseboard, but I?m not a professional contractor. Also, the implementation was flawed: the vapor barrier was on the outside wall, trapping moisture, and the higher-grade insulation (R22) was between the pipes and the inside wall, insulating the pipes from house heat. Contractors I consulted felt this should?ve been fixed free since it was done wrong. I offered to pay for the plumbing but not the wall redo. Warren billed me $2,500 for time and materials, charging $55/hour for his worker and apprentice (110/hr). To be fair, the work looks great, and he addressed the issue quickly. Still, I don?t think I should pay twice for work done incorrectly. I hope this review seems reasonable."

"Aubrey and Son came out to do multiple jobs to my home starting with new flooring in two bedrooms. I needed a whole new bedroom built in my garage for my mom and he completed that job quickly and thoroughly. She stays warm in the winter and cool in the summers and is very comfortable and happy with her room, it came out lovely. Beau also built a custom shed and picnic table which also he did in a needed time frame and they both came out beautiful. Easy communication and solid work. I would definitely recommend this company to family and friends and strangers alike. "

"The company (Black Dog) was hired to expand the bathroom and part of the basement renovation. The project started in October 2020 and it is still going through May 2021 with an unclear restart date after 2 no shows. It was promised to finish by Christmas. The company used 2 different colors of grout in the same room. They are planning to come back and redo it, waiting for 2 months now. They do not want to spend time on fixes. Leakage around the shower was noted, they promised to contact the subcontractor, but I have not heard from them yet. There are minor things missing, would pay attention to their contract as they may not do things like shelves installation as originally discussed. They seemed professional on initial evaluation and at the beginning, but now I am regretting that I hired them."

"Jack and his team made a reasonable bid for my small kitchen project in the West End of Portland. It was an unusual project in that we only had 1 month to complete the work. Jack delivered the work on time and the work is of high quality. As most projects go we had some small unexpected issues, but Jack communicated well and was able to navigate them and still the project on time. I would highly recommend him and his team for your home renovation projects!"
