"I initially contacted my roofing company to replace my broken and leaking skylight. Although they gave me an estimate and accepted a partial payment from me, I couldn't get them to call me with details on the scope of the work (regarding the kind of skylight they planned to put in) or to actually schedule the installation. Finally I called a 2nd company, and they also failed to follow through with promises to call and schedule the work, which they had said they would handle as an emergency. But then I found The Skylight Guys on Angie's List and called them. This was on a Friday afternoon in August during the monsoon season. They returned my call on Saturday, and on Sunday The Skylight Guys were at the house to take a look and give me a recommendation and an estimate. I got the estimate on Monday for their best quality skylight, which came in slightly less than the estimate I got from my (ex)roofing company. On Thursday The Skylight Guys came back to complete the work. It was so refreshing to have a company respond to my call and follow through with the things they said they would do, and do it professionally and punctually and with a great attitude. I would use this company again."

"I am extremely pleased with the work and support from AZ Xtreme Glass. I went to AZ Xtreme glass when I was researching shower enclosures ahead of a bathroom remodel. I did all the remodeling work except counter tops and shower glass and it was my first time. We went to their offices, just off I-10 and Chandler and Nick (the owner) spent a lot of time with us discussion design options and understanding our project. He then asked me a crucial question: “Was I planning to put a 2x6 in the wall to support the shower door?”. Well I wasn’t. But thanks to Nick I did and now have a sound design. He also gave me a lot of information about offsets and spacing that enabled me to complete my design. Then the shower pan arrived and the configuration was not what I expected. Bill at AZ Xtreme worked with me to ensure there was s design/configuration that worked before I went ahead with the shower install. When the time came to install the glass, the team arrived on time and did a great job. However, there was a small fit problem with one of the pieces . Don’t know whether it was a problem with the measurement of the manufacture. The installers did their best but it just wasn’t right. Two hours later, without me having to bug them, AZ Xtreme called me to tell me they had re-ordered the panel and would have it fixed within the week. (we were able to use the shower in the interim) One week later the shower is now complete and looks great. I would heartily recommend AZ Xtreme glass. Great pre-order support, great installation and great post-installation support. I do not know how any company could do a better job than they did."

You can add skylights to an existing roof, but they will work best on angled roofs to ensure water can run off the roof. You’ll also want to hire a contractor with experience retrofitting skylights into roofs, as an improperly placed skylight may leak in the future.

Tubular skylights—also known as tunnels, tube lighting, or solar tubes—have been around since the 1980s. They’re small, cylindrical-shaped windows with a dome that sits on the roof, typically in small rooms, hallways, and closets. Solar tubes diffuse light into a home and filter out UV rays, but they don’t offer a view of the sky. In comparison, skylight windows offer sky views, and some contain filters that partially block harmful UV rays.
Skylights are usually more expensive and challenging to install than solar tube lighting. A tubular skylight costs between $450 and $1,300 for the product and installation. That's about 60% of the price of a skylight or a roof window because the opening is smaller than fixed styles.
