"Perfect! The technician arrived on time. He was very efficient, courteous and professional. I showed him where the dryer and outside vent were and went back to work in my home office. Shortly later he told me it was finished. He had done the following: - Showed me pictures and videos of the work that he had performed - Of particular interest was the 'before-and-after" picture of the inside of the dryer duct, which had been clogged with lint - He cleaned out the dryer inside-filter - He swept and vacuumed the area between the dryer and the wall - He put a screw in the dryer vent hose that had been missing - He installed the outside bird-guard that had fallen on the deck months ago I would like to use Duct Kings again to clean out my home AC ducting."

They promised everything would be resolved—but over a year later, we still have leaks and now interior water damage. Cleanup was never fully done—we picked up over 200 nails ourselves to protect our 3-year-old. When we reported continued leaking, they blamed the chimney, then the insulation, then refused to help further. The owner yelled at us and said we were “ungrateful.” Poor customer service, unprofessional behavior, and unresolved issues. We would not recommend Lane Roofing to anyone."

No, chimney caps do not keep rain out entirely. However, chimney caps minimize rain and ice accumulation inside the chimney, preventing significant water or ice buildup in your home. They must remain partially open to allow exhaust to escape. As such, they do not provide a completely waterproof barrier.
Chimney caps can last three to 25 years or longer, depending on the quality of the material. Galvanized chimney caps tend to have shorter lifespans, but stainless steel, aluminum, and copper caps can last more than 25 years, making them some of the soundest chimney cap investments you can make.
