"BEWARE. Mike Spitalli is very unethical. I trusted my gut on this one and it failed me. I signed a contract for labor only with him. I initially wanted him to demo my kitchen which included removing a coat closet and drywalling the wall behind it for cabinets and paint. Demo a half load bearing wall which would require a support beam and drywalling and paint, install a circulating exhaust fan, remove a click together floor and repair with a new manufactured wood click in floor. I also had a small wall in the dining area that needed to be opened up, rebuilt straight instead of angled. His labor only bid was $25,650. I was going to be provided receipts for all the building materials he provided and also had to pay those. I was providing and having cabinets and countertops installed through Lowe?s who are amazing so far. I had to pay his electrician, his plumber. My deposit to enter into a contract was about $ 3850. I rounded it up in good faith to $4000. Fast forward a couple weeks no work has started no permits just some drawings that I could submit to my association for approval. I decide not to remove the wall in rebuild it about 6? so it was straight and not angled for a beloved furniture piece. Tough decision but it seemed like too much mess with drywall, repairing the wood floor under it and painting that whole wall and possibly ceiling. I tell him to take that off and resubmit proposal. He says he can take $800 off!! What??? Out of 25k of pretty standard stuff other than that wall and load bearing wall, I?m only saving $800. I told him that was unacceptable and I would need to go back to my bids. He immediately cancels the contract and informs me I will get no money back. I was upset to say the least. I was under contract but we haven?t started anything yet. I told him I would write a scathing review all truthful. He immediately fires back that I need to back off or I will be charged with Extortion! He went as far as to call the police. I told the officer what happened and he assured me that posting honest truthful reviews is not extortion. I warned him! It was not a threat it was a promise. Now while I?m busy putting together a small claim case against him, he is apparently meeting with his ?legal team?. What happened here is a civil matter and no laws were broken. I asked him to send me a copy of the legal documents I signed and he has yet to produce them. I feel like I?m being punked. Wish me luck in small claims court. Fortunately everything is documented with texts and emails. The 30million dollar question. Why would he mind if I told our story in a review if he thought what he was doing was ethical. He accused me of trying to ?destroy my business and livelihood? His words, if he doesn?t give me my money back."

For years TruBuild has been making peoples dreams a reality. No job is too big or too small for us! We do everything we can to make sure our craftsmanship and communication beats our competitors. We are a family-owned business and will treat you like our family every step of the way.
"We hired Cain to do work in our basement in November 2024, in January, he informed us that they were not doing any work any longer and the money we gave him as a down payment would be returned in a few days, it is now April and we have not seen those funds returned. We have found out since that he has a history of taking money under one company name, then stopping after he has your money and opening a new company name. We will be filing a claim against Cain and his companies to recover the money he has taken. We have contacted him many times and not received any response from him. This is a buyer beware company. I would look for someone else before working with him again"

Local cabinet installers who specialize in home remodel finishing work install cabinets. You can hire a general handyperson to install most cabinets, but it’s recommended to hire a cabinet specialist when installing custom cabinets. If you order your cabinets through a big-box retailer, they often supply the labor as part of the project cost.
Start with the wall cabinets. Hanging uppers first keeps heavy tools and screws away from your new base cabinets and lets you work closer to the studs for a straighter fit. Once the uppers are level and secure, setting the bases is easier, and you won’t risk scratching fresh finishes. This simple order delivers a cleaner look and a sturdier kitchen overall.
Island and breakfast‑bar base cabinets bolt to the floor—right through the underlayment and subfloor—so they don’t budge when you lean or prep. The cabinet installer uses basic wood screws to secure these cabinets to the floor. However, cabinets that run along a wall don’t need to be fastened. Instead, the contractor secures them to studs in the wall.
Yes, as long as the cabinet boxes are sound, swapping only the doors is fair game. Replacing only the doors and drawer fronts—known as cabinet refacing—offers a cost‐effective way to update your kitchen’s appearance while retaining the existing cabinet boxes. This method delivers a fresh and modern look without the expense of a complete cabinet replacement.
With routine care, custom solid-wood cabinets can retain their appearance for 20 to 50 years. Their superior durability and quality guarantee long‑term performance and an enduring aesthetic. By investing in high‑quality wood and ensuring routine upkeep, you secure cabinets that continue to enhance your kitchen’s appeal for decades. Ask your cabinet installer for maintenance tips to help extend the lifespan of your cabinets.
Whether you install flooring or cabinets first depends on the flooring material. For tile or hardwood, lay the floor first so the cabinets sit level and the finish stays seamless. In contrast, floating floors, such as laminate, should not be installed under cabinets due to expansion and contraction issues. Adhering to this sequence guarantees a durable and polished result.
