He skillfully replaced all the rotting wood with fresh quality wood, and completely rebuilt the barn doors - I now have custom doors on my shed! He also fixed a broken window pane and installed window sills to keep the wood from rotting again in the future. While he was here, he repaired my fence and also sanded down some doors for me so that I could repaint them. He worked outdoors during our coldest days of the winter: 7 degrees. And he worked when there was a foot of snow in my yard. Just shoveled himself a little path and set up all his work equipment. Wood fences last 15 to 20 years when built with quality materials and installed properly. Pine fences last 10 to 15 years, while composite walls offer 20 to 30 years of durability. Fence posts are typically placed four to eight feet apart. Check with your local code requirements to ensure the correct spacing, depth, and setting. The placement of your fence posts depends on the fence height and material. Generally speaking, it's better for the fence if your posts are closer together.
To avoid upheavals or other issues, bury your fence post so the depth exceeds the frost line, or about one-third to one-half of the aboveground height of your post. Check with your local code requirements to determine the right depth for your home since it varies by location.
