Choosing the right Home Inspector can be difficult. Unlike most professionals, you probably will not get to meet me until after you hire me. Furthermore, different inspectors have varying qualifications, equipment, experience, reporting methods and yes, different pricing. All of our inspectors hold Associats Degrees in Building Inspection Technology which required classes in Building Codes, Electrical Codes, Mechanical Codes, Plumbing Codes, Engineering Classes, Plan Review Classes and technical Report writing classes. All new employeees go through an extensive consistetency training program before going to work for us, so you always get the same highly efficient, educated and friendly staff who understand the key diffrnece between a minor defect and a serious structural concern. We don’t write books we write quality easy to read reports. One thing for sure is that a home inspection requires work, a lot of work. Ultimately a thorough inspection depends heavily on the individual inspector’s own effort. If you honor us by permitting us to inspect your new home, I guarantee we will give you our very best effort. This we promise you. Anything less and you can call us below 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Jack Applegate, CBO 503-812-9399 inspbuild@hotmail.com Brandon Zipser 503-931-6272 bzipser@hotmail.com

"I bought a deal through AL for a new roof, based on their reviews. These folks were terribly unprofessional, always late (sometimes days), didn't call when they said they would, and did shoddy work. They asked if I wanted a specific drip edge on my roof, which I said yes to, then they failed to install it. It was like pulling teeth to get them back to do it, and within a few weeks, half of it had blown off. The folks who are fixing it said it was affixed with one nail and silicone. In addition, they broke, chipped and cracked so much of my siding around the roof, I'm having to get the whole area replaced. I'm no roof expert, but when I climbed up to deal with a gutter issue, it became clear to me that the decking they had installed the roof over was water damaged or rotted at the edges. They never advised me of this or gave me the option to replace it. It has taken me two years to get a contractor scheduled to fix all of the problems they left me with, and it's going to cost thousands to fix. I wish I'd just paid someone time/materials to do it right from the get-go. Do yourself a favor and skip these folks, even if it means paying a little more. You'll save in the end. I'm not looking forward to learning what else fails over the coming years."

To determine how much fencing you need, start by measuring the perimeter of the area you want to enclose. Divide that number by the standard post spacing (usually six to eight feet) to calculate the number of posts you'll need. For precise measurements and to account for any irregularities, consider hiring a professional land surveyor.
Wood fences last 15 to 20 years when built with quality materials and installed properly. Pine fences last 10 to 15 years, while composite walls offer 20 to 30 years of durability. The fence’s lifespan is influenced by wood quality, weather exposure, and regular maintenance, which preserves its strength and appearance.
To prolong the life of your wood fence, you need to inspect it at least once each year and act immediately on any signs of loose nails, rusting hinges, or rotting boards. Annual cleaning, followed by a fresh coat of paint or stain every two to three years, secures the fence’s durability and preserves its appearance in all weather.
Fence posts are typically placed four to eight feet apart. Check with your local code requirements to ensure the correct spacing, depth, and setting. The placement of your fence posts depends on the fence height and material. Generally speaking, it's better for the fence if your posts are closer together.
To avoid upheavals or other issues, bury your fence post so the depth exceeds the frost line, or about one-third to one-half of the aboveground height of your post. Check with your local code requirements to determine the right depth for your home since it varies by location.
If a fence borders your neighbor’s property, you must inform your neighbor in advance about the installation. You share the responsibility for repair and maintenance in such cases, so both parties are held accountable by local regulations. It is essential to confirm your local code requirements and documented agreements to avoid future disputes and ensure clear responsibilities.
