"Contractor Recommendation: Norfolk County Heating & Cooling Our 1895 refurbished Victorian's 3rd-floor mini split unit needed repair. Leaking lines were replaced. A chemical reaction between the copper line and wrapped insulation caused pinhole leaks in the line set. Manufacturers recalled that the warranty had expired and the unit was cooling poorly. Four contractors were contacted for estimates. Owner Patrick and project supervisor Renato excelled. They quickly listened and explained the problem, process challenges, and possible solutions. The price given was accurate and a fraction of the others I received. That worried me until it became clear the other contractors had quoted outrageous pricesâ either their company was understaffed and didn't want the small project or thought the customer was ignorant. The other contractors pressured us to upgrade from line replacement to system overhaul. One refused to provide an itemized breakdown of the FIVE times Norfolk H&C estimate but continued contacting me to finalize the sale without changing the price or explanation. Renato visited the day before the appointment to take additional photographs and check his materials. On replacement/installation day, Renato and his assistant were punctual and polite, knocked and asked permission before entering the property, and were great to our small dog. They avoided disturbing a newly planted lawn and cleaned the house and area. Renato showed me the finished project, how he installed it, what he replaced, and its system testing. "The first HVAC contractor (a national chain) I had in to look at my central A/C diagnosed the air handler's fan blowing backwards as a result of a lightning strike scrambling the circuitry. (I told them about the lightning strike in the interest of full disclosure.) This other contractor said it likely needed a new fan but because of the strike they would not repair it. Instead, they would only replace the entire air handler...to the tune of $5700. We were prepared to suffer through the imminent heat wave and fork over the big bucks, but I wanted to get at least one other quote. I had found B&M on HomeAdvisor and requested an appt for a quote. HomeAdvisor wound up canceling the appt because they hadn't heard back from B&M. I decided to call directly. I talked to Paul M and he said they were so busy and couldn't commit to the HomeAdvisor appt time but that they would squeeze me in. I was expecting only a quote, but they didn't give up and wound up fixing it on the spot. It's been working like a champ through the heat wave, and it only cost me $217. Paul even followed up a few days later to ask how it was performing. I highly recommend B&M."

Within a most reasonable amount of time, their technicians worked nonstop in the most inclement weather completing what had to be done to comply with the warranty at no cost to us! "I am genuinely flabbergasted that this company has so many five star reviews. From the marketing practices to their customer service, my frustration with them was pervasive. The work they did seemed to be fine enough, but it was overpriced (I later discovered) and their communication at several stages was just abysmal. My attempts to have them remedy the shortcomings of their process gained no satisfaction. It also left a really, really bad taste to discover that their signs plastered all over the furnaces and water heaters in the basement of our condo building was not because they had some kind of relationship with the condo *and in most cases had no relationship with the equipment that their signs were on*. Just obnoxious. To top it all off, someone my email address was leaked from their organization which led to it being the target of hacking. How would I know it was them? They were the only company that I had given that particular email address to, Then they had the nerve to ask for a customer testimonial video. As if. Would not do business with them again."

"Do not use this company! The have horrible service! Their technicians do not know what they are doing. They will never show up on time and will not keep you in the loop on what is going on. They took 3 months and charged me $2000 too, and never fixed my AC. Eventually, they said I need to replace it after spending all that money. They also left a huge mess in my house. I could never get in touch with anybody from the company or the technician."
