"Unprofessional visit. Showed up unannounced and we only knew they were there because one person stood 10 feet from our porch staring at us in through our living room window. My wife spent 10 minutes talking to them, they stated they had no business cards, they only had an appointment card but didn't present it. Honestly when you show up at someone's house you need some sort of identifier if your walking door to door in casual clothes. After the uncomfortable dead stare through the windows my wife and i have decided to post a No Solicitors sign. Slate roofs last for decades when properly maintained, with natural slate enduring from 50 to 200 years. Hard slate lasts 100 to 200 years, soft slate lasts 50 to 125 years, and synthetic slate lasts 50 to 100 years. The support structure and fixings often require replacement before the slate tiles themselves. Extreme weather, such as tornadoes and hail, reduces the overall lifespan of the roof.
