Almost forty years ago (on November 5, 1962, to be exact) I went to work for Yancey Company as the company receptionist. Mr. Joel Yancey, founder and President of Yancey Company was at the helm. Mr. Clarence Hester was Vice President and General Manager. (Mr. Hester left Yancey in early 1970s to establish Hester Roofing.) Over the years I climbed the “corporate ladder,” and in 1982 was appointed Vice President and Controller. I continued that position through some very sad and hard times, watching a company established in 1939 begin to fall. In 1986, for a number of reasons, the Company filed for protection under Chapter 11. But by the Fall of 1988 it was quite evident that even under Chapter 11 protection the Company could not continue. Mr. Yancey approached me at that time and said, “Jan, why don’t you buy out the Roofing Division, since that is the division you are the most familiar with?” I was now 48 years old and scared to death. I had grown up at Yancey Company for the past 26 years, and had nowhere else to go. (Who was going to hire a 48 year old woman who expected to earn what I had worked myself up to at Yancey Company? After a lot of negotiation (and anyone who has ever negotiated with Joel Yancey knows exactly what I mean) I agreed to purchase the trade name Yancey Roofing. In December 1988, I opened our now new Company, Yancey Roofing. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me personally. And thank you for considering Gudgel/Yancey as your roofing contractor. Best Regards, Jan Gudgel, President Services Include: Gutters & Downspouts, Roofing
"The work is amazing and well done. The company was willing to work with me as far as financing is concerned. My only beef is that I have called them 15+ times over the course of 5 months. I have requested a receipt by both leaving left messages AND spoking to real people. I have NEVER received a call back nor a receipt. The company is great at returning your call when they are trying to win your business. Not so much after the work is done."

In some cases, roofers can repair gutters. This is most common when you also need work done on your roof, such as if they're replacing soffits, fascias, or missing shingles. However, a multi-skilled handyperson can also repair or replace guttering. If you have multiple smaller jobs—such as installing new trim, repairing siding, and similar jobs—you may maximize savings by hiring a handyperson to tackle all of these jobs alongside your gutter repair.
You can install gutter leaf guards or hangers to offer extra protection to gutters by minimizing the amount of debris and buildup. This prevents the need for frequent cleaning. If you are having consistent issues with them, gutter cover or hanger installation is a viable option. The average cost of gutter guards is between $8 and $10 per linear foot.
Painting your gutters can be difficult depending on the type of material and overall condition. Giving your gutters a fresh coat of paint doesn't solve their structural or performance issues. If you're looking to give your home a fresh look, the cost to replace gutters is a better option to maximize efficiency.
The average life expectancy of galvanized steel or aluminum gutters is 20 years. Copper gutters have a life expectancy of 50 years. A professional gutter installer in your area can give you the best estimates of longevity depending on what type you choose. Plus, they can advise you on seasonal home maintenance timelines throughout the year.
The national average cost for cleaning gutters comes in between $125 and $175 per job. Although it may seem like a chore, doing regular cleanings ensures that your drainage system is working properly. Also, it prevents the need for future repairs. Note that gutter cleaners are usually not gutter professionals and focus on cleaning out the gutter debris and not gutter functionality.
