"We have used Gorjanc to service our steam heating system in the past. This spring we noticed a leak coming from our furnace and some corrosion on some of the outlet pipes. Because we are preparing to sell our home, we wanted to get an assessment of the problem. Gorjanc was very quick to get a technician out. The tech examined the boiler and quoted us $1400 to “attempt” to repair it, but gave us the ominous warning that “whether it can be repaired is 50/50....and you’d lose the $1400 if it doesn’t.” He happily put us in touch with the sales department to schedule an appointment for a replacment boiler. I reached out to a small owner-operated firm run by a former-Gorjanc technician for a second opinion and I am glad I did. After inspecting the leak, he said he could repair and certify the boiler. He gave me an estimate of $300-700 depending on how long it would take. In the end, he spent just 2 hrs and charged me $250 to repair the leak, clean out the sight glass, test and certify the boiler. There are only three conclusions that can be drawn: 1) Gorjanc has so much overhead, that they need to charge 5-6x the cost of repairs 2) Their technician wasnt competent enough to accurately diagnose a problem and assess its repairability OR 3) They use service calls as a way of driving sales of new boilers. Probably, it’s all three. PS This isn’t the first time we’ve had an insanely high estimate from GCS. They once quoted us $700 to replace a cracked radiator valve. We ended up having the work done for $200."

"Just wow. This company is awesome. We had a leak in the laundry room that ruined the flooring and damaged the wall. That fix was simple. While I had a plumber here, I showed him a problem with the kitchen sink water backing into the dishwasher and leaking out. The fix was to replace the locked up and gunk filled garbage disposal that hadn't worked in years.....and as long as we were addressing the kitchen, why not replace the old dripping faucet. Done. While other contractors were fixing the damage to the laundry room floor and wall, we found out the shut-offs were not working to the sink. Once again we called Wyattworks. The serviceman replaced the shut-offs, no problem. When he went to turn off the water to the laundry room, he showed me the house shut-off had no handle to turn. He was able to replace that shut-off as well on the same visit. All of these issues were addressed in 3 visits. Every serviceman who worked in our home was outstanding....friendly, professional, extremely clean, and offered different options to address problems. This company nailed it here in our older home. Even communication from the office was top notch. I was called multiple times on the days of our appointments. A call to let us know where we were on the day's schedule. If it was to be a later (afternoon or later) visit, a call to check in and let me know if they were on schedule. A call when they were finishing up on the job before mine and then a final call when the serviceman was on his way and about how long it would take him to get here. I was never left in the dark and wondering if they would be here. Customer service couldn't have been any better. Every person who I dealt with from Wyattworks was fantastic. Thank you all."

Sewer line replacement typically costs between $50 and $250 per foot. The price depends on the material you choose and the complexity of the project. PVC pipes are more affordable, while copper pipes are more expensive. Factors like trenching requirements, how accessible your sewer line is, and labor rates in your area also affect the overall cost per foot.
A sewer sleeve is a method used to repair cracks or holes in existing sewer pipes without excavation. Professionals employ a cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining technique, where an epoxy-saturated liner is inserted into the damaged pipe to seal defects. This minimally invasive process avoids digging up your yard and is more cost-effective than replacing the entire pipe, extending the life of your sewer system.
Most newer homes use PVC and ABS piping because they're durable, have smooth interiors that prevent clogs, and are affordable. If your home is older, your pipes might be made of copper, Orangeburg, clay, cast iron, or even lead. It's important to have a plumber inspect your piping before handling it, as some older materials can contain toxic substances.
You can look for several signs to tell if your sewer pipes are damaged. Persistent clogs and frequent sewage backups are common indicators of a problem. Sudden increases in utility bills may signal a leak, while sulfur smells suggest sewage is not properly contained. Additionally, noticing sewage in your yard points to a possible sewer line break that requires immediate attention.
While not all plumbing work requires a permit, any work involving a sewer line is almost guaranteed to require permits in every town or city due to sanitary concerns and biohazard risks. A clogged sewer line is generally not covered by standard homeowner's insurance policies. Insurance often excludes damage resulting from regular wear and tear or neglect. It's important to review your policy or speak with your insurance provider to understand your specific coverage.
