"Dream Built Construction is a swindle. There address 5207 Agua Fria Rd is an empty lot. After having my roof done by them and getting a so-called *warranty* I cannot reach them by phone, text nor email. They charged me $800 to *remove* my HVAC and never removed it from the roof. I had to have the City inspector to my home several times for issues. He has done a *no show* now 2 times to get some follow up work done. I am filing an official complaint with both the City and the State Registration Licensing Dept. / Construction Division. This individual, Luis Dominguez is a fast-talking, dishonest, dishonorable person. Buyer beware!!!"

"Felipe and his crew did a large project for me (back porch) and myriad smaller items to repair our new home. Short version: I'll definitely be using them again and recommending them, but you need to be engaged. They are not a set-and-forget crew. In general, the quality of the work is high. The porch is exactly as we imagined it and we're quite happy. The only issues I have with some of the work is the fit and finish. Roofing nails missing the joists weren't redone, so now there are nails hanging into my porch. The ramset nails they used to attach the base plate to the concrete pad had some kind of wax/rubber around them which wasn't completely removed prior to painting, so there are weird nubs sticking up on the base plate. Some of the screws on door moulding weren't puttied over. The biggest issue I had with them was communication and scheduling. Felipe forgot a few parts of the project and things got dropped a few times. It worked out because I was paying close attention, but I think he may just have too much going on so things will fall between the cracks. Scheduling was a regular issue. Our project took place right outside of our bedroom, so we wanted to know the night before if they would be there. It was about 50/50 whether they'd give us that heads up. They also broke an expensive high security lock and I was not reimbursed or discounted. On the scale of the project, it was a rounding error in cost, but it's the principle of the matter on that one."

The three main types of slate roofs are standard, patterned, and random. Standard slate roof tiles have the same width, thickness, and length. Generally, a building permit is required for a new slate roof installation. This is considered a significant change in the structure of your house. If you’re replacing one type of roofing material with a slate roof, this may also call for a valid permit. Basic repairs may or may not need a permit. It is best to check with local authorities about the regulations that apply in your area.
Professional roofers' training varies by state, but they typically need to serve an apprenticeship of at least two years before applying for a roofing license. Always hire a professional with specific experience installing slate roofing. No other material goes on the same as slate tiles. It’s easy to crack the stone when installing it, leading to leaks and damage later on. Local roofing contractors should also have liability insurance and a business license. Replace a slate roof if more than 20% to 30% of its tiles need to be repaired or replaced. Slate roofs are a popular option because of their longevity and classic look.
