"We are remodeling our kitchen from the studs up and wanted an architect to design our kitchen to make sure the new appliances, cabinets, flooring, lighting, large window, workstation sink, custom hood all went with each other and fit perfectly. We were referred to YDB by our contractor. Jamaal designed our kitchen. As with any remodeling we changed our mind a few times as we worked our way to a design we liked. Jamaal was patient with us as he went thru a few iterations of re-designing and re-renderings. He is courteous, professional, knowledgeable, has good ideas, and an eye for chic. YDB fees are also reasonable. We are waiting on our contractor to start the remodeling work and will post back when the install is complete on how everything came together."

"We worked with Claudiu and his crew to refine the design of and build a bike shed in our backyard attached to an existing pergola. We provided a rough sketch of the concept and design and Claudiu asked thoughtful questions and provided helpful insights to help us think through the design to ensure feasibility while maintaining our desired aesthetic. The team was flexible and adjusted plans as needed, including undoing some work to add rodent-proofing. Claudiu was responsive and was in frequent contact to provide updates and ensure that I was involved in any design decisions as the work evolved. The result was better than we imagined! "After waiting nearly a year for a contractor to start our job we finally gave up and scrambled to find someone else. We needed our family room completely gutted and rebuilt before Thanksgiving. We met with 3 different companies and settled on Modern Habitat after meeting with Kip Schultz and Bob Dillon for quite some time. They were professional, listened to our needs and concerns, made helpful suggestions and came back with a very reasonable estimate. They showed up daily, kept in constant contact with us both verbally and by email, and consulted us for any changes every step of the way. The room was not completely done by Thanksgiving, which we had expected given the tight timeline, but it was fully functional and we did enjoy the space with family on the holiday. Even after we added a few items and modified others they finished the job less than 2 weeks later. We could not be more pleased with the final result. Our family room went from the original 1970 eyesore with holes and water stains in the popcorn ceiling, peeling wallpaper, atrocious stairs and hideous faux beams to a modern, stylish and comfortable lounge space that we are proud to relax in with guests. We will definitely contact Kip for future renovations and would not hesitate to recommend Modern Habitat to anyone looking for honest, hard-working and reliable general contracting services. "We hired Maize Restoration for their comprehensive project evaluation (CPE) This is in advance of the actual renovation project and this review is specific to their CPE. We liked the idea of first engaging Maize restoration to scope the project throughly before committing to using them for the actual renovation. The process involved a few on site meetings (at our house) and several hours of detailed information gathering by Chase, Maize's president. We were pleased with the result of a couple of lifelike 'photos' of the completed bathroom and a roadmap of how we'd proceed. Chase "got it." Based on this, we have engaged Maize for the remodeling and we look forward to working with them on that project. Chase had come highly recommended by a couple of colleagues. We have interviewed a number of contractors for the project and we found that Maize's CPE gave us the confidence that they understood what we needed and would be good to work with.
