Pine Cone Key Box
Spare keys are convenient, but they can also threaten the safety of your home. Here’s how to disguise your spare key:
- Gather your materials. You’ll need an empty pill bottle, a glue gun and a pinecone.
- Attach the pinecone. Glue the pinecone to the lid of the pill bottle.
- Hide the bottle. Dig a shallow hole near your door and place your bottle inside.
P.S. Rocks are also great substitutions for pinecones.
I would attached a plastic piece of “string” such as plastic “Easter grass” to the key on one end and have the other end hang over the edge of the bottle. Then screw the top on. So that when you unscrew it you can hold onto the string and pull the key out of the bottle without taking the bottle out of the ground.
